Up for sale is a speed/flutter, azimuth calibration cassette for cassette recorders and players. For the speed adjustment a signal of 3khz at 0db has been recorded on the side A of cassette. You will need a multimeter with frequency counter option hooked up to line out of your deck or your phone with a frequency counter app. Just adjust the speed adjustment pot to set the frequency as close to 3000 Hz as possible. For the azimuth adjustment a signal of 10khz at -10db has been recorder on the side B of cassette. You will need a multimeter hooked up to line out and adjust the azimuth screw measuring the maximum ac voltage you can get. I used my late serial number Nakamichi Dragon to record the 3 Khz test tone as the tape speed is factory adjusted and fixed and the W&F of the deck is close to 0.015%, maybe the lowest you can get from a cassette deck. To record the 10khz test tone I calibrated the playback head of my BX-300 deck using a new sealed BASF IEC/DIN standard calibration tape (picture n.4) and my oscilloscope, and each test tape I record, I use the oscilloscope to calibrate the record head as much accurate as possible, just to prevent any cassette shell imperfections. I use only NEW TDK D-30 or Maxell C-30 cassettes. This cassette is not an original test tape, but you can get pretty accurate results adjusting your deck using it. Check my feedback for this item. I moved recently in US from Greece, where I was working in Greek Nakamichi service during 90s and I have all the professional equipment (original test tapes, oscilloscope, wow & flutter meter, distortion meter, frequency response meter). If you need to service your deck Ill be happy to help you. See also my other items and my feedback. Thank you for looking.

This is a special chrome tape Maxell XL II 90. It is a used tape. This is a tape deck speed and azimuth calibration setup cassette with lots of extra tones. (tape deck not included) Maxell chrome XL II 90 Cassette with lots of useful test tones recorded on it. The cassettes have all been recorded on my nakamichi ZX7 tape deck that has been fully serviced and calibrated (January 2023) using a professional set up. Nakamichi used to produced all their own calibration cassettes on ZX machines due to having full manual adjustment control of the azimuth and bias settings. Most machine do not have this option so will not be able to produce as accurate recording due to imperfections of tape travel. I am able to ensure the perfect azimuth alignment and bias levels for each individual cassette recorded. I also used computer software to give a very accurate level. The cassettes are also double checked with a sony quartz locked tape deck. So the tones speeds are very accurate measuring lower than 0.04 wow and flutter. I have been selling these tapes for over 3 years now with hundreds of happy customers. Please see my feedback. The tones on the tape are 3000Hz and 3150Hz for speed and wow and flutter tests. And lots of other tone for setting up tape deck levels. I have also included some useful channel identification test tracks, white noise and other useful test tracks. Each track has a description before the tone to help find the tone you want. Track listing. 3000 Hz tone (0dB)3150Hz (0dB)400Hz (0dB)500Hz (0dB)1000Hz (0dB)10,000Hz (-10dB)12,000Hz (-10dB)15,000Hz (-10dB)19,500Hz (-10dB)Frequency Sweep 20Hz - 20000Hz 400Hz (0dB) @250n Wb/m (5.00)Channel IdentificationWhite Noise (0dB) If you need any other tones please ask as I can add them to the tape. But there will be a small extra charge due to time to set everything up. To use the tape down load a frequency counter app for your phone. Play the tape and check the frequency on the app. If needed adjust the speed of your tape decks motor. This will be on the back of the motor or a pot on the circuit board.
