The Genesis 400 is a dipolar design which radiates sound from both the front and the back. This kind of loudspeaker has many advantages over a conventional type, the most important of which are ease of room placement and an open and musically accurate soundstage presentation. The Genesis 400 is finished in a beautiful rosewood veneer. There are five drivers in each of the 400's consisting of two ribbon tweeters, one three inch midrange dome and two eight inch metal cone woofers. Each driver in this three way loudspeaker system has been designed to be a perfect piston within its useable frequency band. The tweeter, described by many reviewers in both the American and foreign press as possibly the world's best, is a one inch planar ribbon design. It is hand-crafted from an extremely thin laminated membrane of aluminum and Kapton and measures a mere 0.0005 inch thick. The advantage of incorporating such an extremely thin membrane is its inherent low mass. The result of this design is a driver that has the speed of the best ribbon/electrostatic designs without the high distortion and poor dispersion that is typically associated with them. The three inch midrange dome on the Genesis 400 is constructed from an amalgam of titanium and silicon carbide. This strong and lightweight design eliminates breakup modes through the entire middle frequency range and provides tremendous dispersion and dynamic range while maintaining its coherent musical quality. The bass of the Genesis 400 is clean and powerful. It is produced by two eight inch metal cone woofers. By incorporating a stiff, machined, twin layer aluminum cone into our woofers, the problem of wobble, cone bending and non linear distortions associated with cones not possessing the stiffness of aluminum has been eliminated. Our aluminum cones are a magnitude stiffer than any plastic cone on the market today and virtually eliminate these problems. In order to take advantage of the finest properties of each driver, a sophisticated fourth order Linkwitz Riley crossover is used between the tweeter and midrange. The advantage of a Linkwitz Riley network is nearly perfect phase coherence and seamless integration of drivers. To extend the 400's bass response to 30 Hz, capacitive and inductive tuning is incorporated rather than the traditional acoustic suspension or ported box design. Use of a sealed cabinet and LC tuning gives the 400 its extended and tightly controlled bass performance.

Lets put it this way I get more service requests from customers who paid big money for a new in the box sealed unit that’s dead on arrival due to dry rot and 30 year old grease caking up harder then concrete then units that have been in service for years. List of service done prior to listing, but not limited to dependant on what type of electronic you purchase: -Replacement of any blown or non working fuses capacitors resistors etc -Mode control switch has been inspected, cleaned, and greased. -All solder joints have been inspected -VHS heads have been cleaned. -Audio heads have been cleaned. -Pinch roller has been cleaned. -Capstan shaft as been cleaned and tested for range of movement. -IR sensors that control loading mechanism have been cleaned and tested. -IR diode that indicates tape is at end has been cleaned and tested. -Cooling fan/fans have been cleaned. -Disc lens has been cleaned. -Tape heads have been demagnitized -Gears that control the Disc tray have been cleaned and greased. -Disc tray switch has been cleaned (tells the machine if the tray is open or closed) -All functions, inputs, and outputs have been tested and are working. -Replacement of belts bands idlers pulleys etc that need to be. -Any battery compartments are clean working and free of corrosion -Greasing of any moving parts that call for it. *Ships quick with professional packing/materials and attention to detail to protect the item so you receive it in the same condition as you see it. * I will place a sticker on the inside of the unit with a unique serial number that will identify the unit to me, as well a void if broken tamper sticker on the back of the units case. These will not affect normal functions. However they sadly are a measure against scammers and con artists . Who would claim they bought something and it didnt work or they didnt like the item and will open a return and send me back their old broken unit that my refurbished one just replaced or strip the unit of its parts and send me back a empty shell. The Vintage Akai GX-F90 is an Audiophile 2-channel stereo cassette recorder deck. Featuring a 3-head system with combination record/playback GX head, bias control mechanism, microprocessor control and Dolby noise reduction - F90 has been considered by many audiophiles as one of the best Akai cassette decks ever made. The Akai GX-F90 featured all Super GX playback and record glass heads. As per Akais advertisements, you could run an Akai GX series deck 24/7 for 17.5 years before their heads wore out. That’s 150,000 hours, as compared to a more typical 3000-4000 hour life span of steel cassette heads of the 70-80s. GX-F90 transport features 2 motors direct drive (no belts). The capstan motor is a brushless FG/DCservo with three Hall elements. It is named BLM-100 and was also used in the GX-F95 monster.
