GOLDRING G1042 Audiophile Moving Magnet Stereo Hi-Fi Cartridge with OEM Gyger-S Stylus VGC, Used – Superb! Update: Includes original stylus guard! I found it, and have now added a couple of photos for you! I have a high-end audio set-up and am selling off some of my many components and cartridges - only to fund some more purchases! Here’s my superb Goldring G1042 moving-magnet cartridge and original OEM stylus complete; it’s not in original packaging but I am including a copy of the original Instruction/Spec Sheet (and the stylus guard). I’ve included a detailed description of the item at the foot of this auction. This is Goldring’s flagship MM model, with many audio-industry awards behind it; a superb performer. The stylus on this one is probably half-way through its expected life, having been in use by me from new for about a year so there is plenty of mileage for you to enjoy. A new G1042 stylus can be purchased by around £200 and a complete cartridge is at least £325 – so obtaining this part-used one does represent decent value! You can however use any of the Goldring G1000 styli with this cartridge body, so you can spend a far smaller budget for a replacement if required - or go for the top-of-the-range G1042 Gyger-S. It’s only been used on my Roksan Xerxes 20 Plus turntable - it’s a wonderful performer as you’d expect on a good turntable, with the excellent Gyger-S stylus tracking brilliantly at around 1.8 Grams. Azimuth is the term used to describe the angle that the vertical centre-line of the stylus makes with the record surface and this must be exactly perpendicular to the record groove. This is not usually a user adjustable parameter on most budget decks and so it is vital that the cartridge leaves the factory with the azimuth precisely set. Badly adjusted azimuth can cause uneven channel balance and increased crosstalk between channels which would severely degrade the stereo image.

Marantz 1550L receiver from 1978 in excellent condition and perfect working order. Came from a recent estate sale and was dry stored in the house. We have internally cleaned all of the rotary controls and selectors with switch cleaner to ensure they are all noise free. The exterior has been deep cleaned, the facia is in excellent mark free condition. Sadly in previous ownership the MID tone control knob has been knocked off and in turn broken off the spindle. As far as we can tell it was set to the mid position, it is the only issue and could be rectified at a later time with the new owner. Parts from these receivers are always on eBay and I think that these late 1970s receivers shared parts. The sound quality is excellent and all the features work as they should. We have tested all the inputs including phono by connecting a turntable, they are all 100% All of the speaker outlets for system 1 and system 2 are also fully working. The tuning scale and meters light up in blue, super cool. The receiver has been bench tested over the last 3 days and not missed a beat. We have been listening to vinyl, tapes and streaming from our phone via an RCA lead. Despite a missing control knob this is a superb example, designed in California and made in Japan. Some sellers are asking north of 1K so have priced mine at a realistic price point. They come with the factory B&W boxes, manuals, magnetic grills and plinths. I have them priced at bargain basement prices. They just need a new home. Attention: WILL NOT SHIP. Shipping simply can not be trusted. These are heavy, and the shippers are rough and dont care. I have personally had two B&W speakers of this design show up at my home with the tweeter broken off the top due simply to roughness during shipping. I would hate for that to happen to these.
