DerPAS-02 kann wie ein Vorverstärker zwischen bis zu 4 Hochpegelquellen(CD-Player, Tuner, etc.) und den Endverstärker eingebunden werden. Beidem hier angebotenen PAS-02 handelt sich um die Ausführung mit demextrem aufwändigen 138-stufigen Holco-Attenuator: DieLautstärkeregelung erfolgt über ein robustes Schaltwerk, das 138einzelne Widerstandsstufen in Schritten von je 0,5 dB bzw. 3 dBabgreift. Dieses Prinzip ist sowohl klanglich als auch in Hinsichtauf die Lebensdauer jedem noch so hochwertigen Potentiometerüberlegen. Ebenfalls sehr aufwändig istder Eingangswahlschalter aufgebaut:Das robuste Schaltwerkschaltet immer beide Kontakte einer Eingangsquelle.Außerdem befindet sichzwischen zwei Schaltstufen benachbarter Eingangsquellen jeweils eineLeerstufe.So ist die absoluteelektrische Trennung von den nicht gewählten Eingangsquellengewährleistet. Die stabilen Ausgangsbuchsensind komplett hartvergoldet und mit PTFE-Isolatoren (!) versehen.
