Audio Research V140 Mono Tube Amps The V series power amplifiers represent an evolutionary refinement of the circuit topology first established in the acclaimed Classic amplifiers introduced by Audio Research a few years ago. While continuing to use triode operation and Audio Research's patented, cross-coupled circuit, the V amplifiers also incorporate a fully balanced input stage to minimize noise and distortion products that otherwise could degrade the musical resolution of the output stage. The input stage uses select J-FET transistors with MOSFET followers to provide ultra-quiet, low-impedance drive to the 6FQ7 dual triodes, which directly drive the output tubes. (The V amplifiers are shipped with matched, selected KT90 output tubes, although other popular alternative tube types are compatible: 6550. 6550A.
