Here we have a Audio Research SP-10 mk2 (last of the Mk Rev) preamp in excellent cosmetic condition. There is plenty of information on the internet regarding this famous preamp so I won’t go into much detail. Basically, it’s one of the finest preamps Audio Research ever made, with an excellent phono section and line stage for CD’s. The soundstage this preamp produces is best described like the band is right there playing right in front of you, warm, smooth and detailed. I was listening to Led Zeppelin’s No Quarter which I have many live versions and know all very intimately, when played through this setup, it was like Mr. Jones was right there in my listening room, his keyboard performance was like liquid, the realism this preamp projects is just unbelievable! This Audio Research SP-10 mk2 is a classic tube preamp much like the Marantz 7 or McIntosh C-22 and it will retain its value and increase over time as these 3 preamps are regarded as the Top 3 Best Classic Preamp’s of all time! On to the Specs: The layout is a dual mono design and it’s also designed to accept most moving coil cartridges direct. If the moving coil cartridge is rated at 200-400 microvolts the unit can handle that cartridge without a step-up device. The preamp also has a bypass switch dedicated to the phono circuit where it bypasses all other circuits and feeds the phono section directly. It’s an all tube unit in both the power supply and audio sections. The unit is all original with no modifications since it left the factory. The tubes are brand new out of stock AR Tubes installed in 2014 with less than 40 hours. It has not been used since except for testing before this listing. This unit has rare black faceplates which were an additional $250 option when the unit was built. This is a very late model of this preamp...it’s an original mk2 version and the best way to tell is by looking at the eight 6dj8 tubes in the audio section, mk2 units will have a 4 inch long litz wires running from the third set of tubes back towards the back of the chassis. Again, condition wise, it’s in excellent condition. The unit does not have the wooden case anymore as it was sold years ago. Also, I do not have the original boxes, I may have the manual. Everything works fine and the unit sounds great. I am the 2nd owner, as the original owner was a highly known Audiophile in the Cali area. Ich finde in einem sehr guter Zustand, ich finde keine Kratzer oder andere Beschädigung. Klanglich bin ich sehr zufrieden, möchte sagen in Verbindung mit meinen Infinty kappa 8 (und den Rest seht ihr ja auf dem Foto) echtes hifi Gefühl. Möchte aber noch „ne Schüppe drauf legen“ und suche unbedingt eine Audio Research SP11 Einheit !!! Gerne Abholung, ——- der Versand gehört nicht zur Auktion.—— Können wir im Anschluss besprechen. For those who know and understand good technology and sound. I am selling a top-end preamplifier, in good condition, considering the return. Power supply 230W, good lamps on board:(Phillips 3 pcs - on the preamp part, and Amperex on the phono stage) + two sets of spare ones (Amperex Bugle Boy, + Electro Harmonix) Great phono stage! In my hands since 2014, in the country house system: auditions are rare, on holidays. Fully working, in good working order, no rustling, no creaking, etc. I took it to a repairman a couple of times for preventative maintenance - just in case, nothing broke, I did it for the sake of preventive maintenance, since I take pretty good care of my equipment. Reason for selling - I would like to switch to a fully balanced connection scheme.

Here’s a nice Audio Research Foundation Series VT80 amp, originally in silver, now in black. I also have what I believe are some original silver trim pieces. If you want those, I will see if i can safely pack them in the original carton with the amp or you can just pay me the extra shipping cost to send a second and smaller box your way. When I got this unit I got in touch with ARC and I ordered the optional tube cage for it along with a new “Certified Matched” factory tube set featuring the SE-spec KT150 tubes. In the two years since, I’ve put just 57.9 Hours on that factory tube set. As you may know, the early units were sold as VT80 with KT120 tubes (as this one probably was). Soon after launch, they went to the larger KT150 tubes and with that change alone, these units became VT80SE tube amps. There was no other difference between VT80 or VT80SE. The SE came by virtue of a simple tube change alone. The VT80 was originally designed with the KT120, the predecessor to the KT150, but these two tubes are electrically interchangeable and the demand for delivering the VT80 with the KT150 could be ignored no longer.It is important to mention that the KT150 tubes supplied by Audio Research, for all of our products, are tested and measured for quality control and assurance, and are burned in for 48 hours. Then using our “Certified Matched” process, they are hand matched in sets with tolerances 10x tighter than standard off-the-shelf tubes, thus ensuring the finest audio quality possible.With its auto-bias design, the VT80SE can also be used with KT120 or KT150 output tubes and the circuit will adjust immediately when a new tube is installed. Protective fuses are installed for each output tube and can be replaced if the need ever arises. What sonic improvements will you hear with the VT80SE? As our Warren Gehl said, “More music!” Tonal color, detail, dynamic swing and purity are all improved, along with a bigger and more robust presentation. The music gets better, in every way.Aside from the beautiful curves of the KT150 tubes, the only other way to distinguish the SE from the original VT80 is by a small sticker on the rear panel. Nothing else needed to change. The existing (optional) ventilated tube cover can be used with the taller KT150 tube set, there is still sufficient space to breathe. Decent cosmetic condition with a few scratches and a bit of wear to the edge. Unit powers on and seems to work with the basic testing I did. There is two broken switches on the front of the preamp. One still works but the other seems to be stuck. Includes the preamp, power supply, and cable. Both the preamp and power supply are missing a few screws from the top. Sold as is/for repair.
