I will sell in excellent condition preamplifier Audio Research SP17Voltage 230At the Phono and linear inputs are installed low-noise field-effect transistors with a PN junction (J-FET), and instead of 12AX7 lamps - 6N30, characterized by high linearity and a long service life. The anode voltage stabilizer is similar to that in the LS17 and LS26 models, as is the stepped volume control with 103 positions (compared to 70 in the SP16), thanks to which the desired volume level can be set with high accuracy, which is especially important for quiet listening. While the maximum input signal level of the SP16 did not exceed 3.5 V, the SP17 allows 9 V to be supplied to the inputs without the risk of overload. The SP16 can be controlled using direct access codes and discrete on-off commands, as well as quick mute (Mute), which can be received from the control controller. The SP17 preamplifier has an extended frequency range and reduced output impedance, allowing the use of long cables and operation with an amplifier with a relatively low input impedance. The gain in the linear path compared to the SP16 remained almost the same (it decreased by only 0.4 dB), while in the phono corrector it became higher (47 dB versus 43.5 dB). The noise level decreased: by 9 dB in the linear path and by 11 dB in the phono corrector, which makes it possible to use pickup heads with a signal level of less than 1 mV. Here is the Preamplifier that I purchased around 1976 from Paul Heath Audio here in Rochester, NY. It was used with a Linn Sondek turntable and Quad ESL57 speakers to give wonderful female voices and guitar strings. It was stored in a closet for most of those years while the kids were growing up.Note that all the electrolytic capacitors are original. I recommend that you either leave power on all the time or slowly bring up the power with a Variac to preserve the capacitora dn the tube filaments. It still has the Telefunken tubes that I installed soon after purchase, and they still measure good on my TV7-D/U Tube Tester. Back then the Telefunkens were acclaimed to be the best, and I never had reason to change them. I spent most of the day today measuring and studying the tubes, as follows........ Ich bin der zweite Besitzer, der Vorbesitzer hat das Gerät vor etwa zehn Jahren revidieren lassen, bei dieser Revision wurden die Relais ersetzt, das Balance-Potentiometer überbrückt, und das Volume-Potentiometer gegen ein besseres von ALPS ausgetauscht. Der Besitzer besass eine Firma für Oberflächenveredelung, somit hat er die Frontplatte eloxiert, und dann graviert. Es handelt sich um die originale Front, nun einfach mit einer perfekten Gravur. Um den September 2023 begann ein Kanal merklich leiser zu spielen, und dann durch das Relais bei leisen Papieren teilweise aus zu setzen. Das Gerät ging dann in die Revision zum Techniker, wie meist sind diese massiv überlastet. Irgendwie hat er dann rein geguckt, jedoch wurde die Arbeit nicht fertiggestellt. Habe dann den Pre zu H-J. S. verfrachtet, welcher leider nicht mehr die Ressourcen hatte, somit habe ich die SP-9 zurück geholt. S. riet von einer Inbetriebnahme ohne vorhergehende Durchsicht ab. Da ich noch über weitere AR Preamps verfüge, lasse ich es somit nun bleiben. Der Verkauf erfolgt als zu 100% DEFEKT. Sonstiges: Sehr viele Informationen zu diesem Weltklasse - Vorverstärker finden sich auf dem WWW. Für gab es nie einen Grund, dieses Gerät aus zu tauschen, leider lässt es mein Arbeitspensum im Moment nicht zu, noch Stunden des Umherfahrens zu investieren, da höre ich lieber Musik :-) Das originale Manual, der Schaltplan und die Bauteile zur Anpassung des Phono-Eingang liegen bei. 220-Volt - Version.
