I have owned several ARC amps and the REF150SE is truly a stunning piece. This amp was purchased from John at The Audio Salon in the Biltmore Hotel in South Florida. The tubes included are the original tubes that came with the amp from Audio Research. There are 2519 hours on the tubes. KT150 tubes are quoted by ARC as being good for a minimum of 3000 hours and 6h30 tubes at 4000 hrs. The amp still sounds pristine! The unit is absolutely flawless in performance and is, with the caveat below, an absolutely stunning example. *NOTE: This amp is listed as NEAR MINT and the only thing preventing it from being MINT is shown in the picture with the blue circles around the three specs on the top edge of the faceplate (see pic for details). Owners tip: When checking the bias/voltage for each tube, there is a set of terminals used to check each individual output tube with voltmeter probes. There is one set of terminals that requires you to move the probes around slightly more than the others to make good contact and get a proper reading. I am the original owner of this amp. I purchased it from Century Stereo in March of 2018. The amp originally came with KT120 tubes. I run them 1680 hours and then upgraded to a cryo matched quad of KT150 from Tube Depot plus a new set of 6H30Pi from Tube Depot as well. Currently the amp has 2281 hours so the new tubes have 601 hours one them.It is one of most 3D sounding amplifiers I have ever heard. Only reason for selling is I am downsizing in housing and no longer have them room for multiple systems.Includes original box, manual, 20amp power cord, everything that originally came from Audio Research. Here’s a nice Audio Research Foundation Series VT80 amp, originally in silver, now in black. I also have what I believe are some original silver trim pieces. If you want those, I will see if i can safely pack them in the original carton with the amp or you can just pay me the extra shipping cost to send a second and smaller box your way. When I got this unit I got in touch with ARC and I ordered the optional tube cage for it along with a new “Certified Matched” tube set featuring the SE-spec KT150 tubes. In the two years since, I’ve put just 57.9 Hours on that factory tube set. As you may know, the early units were sold as VT80 with KT120 tubes (as this one probably was). Soon after launch, they went to the larger KT150 tubes and with that change alone, these units became VT80SE tube amps. There was no other difference between VT80 or VT80SE. The SE came by virtue of a simple tube change alone.
