There is a phono stage for connecting a turntable, everything works as it should. All the inputs (inc turntable) and all the speaker outputs have been checked, they are all 100% fully working. Amplifier sounds really nice, bags of power and the phono board is a really nice piece of kit. UNFORTUNATELY THE FRONT PANEL IS CRACKED! . The damage is clearly visible in the pictures. It was knocked in a house move. The rest of the casework is in really good shape. Crack could be repaired with a bit of a steady hand and a little glue. Original Arcam remote control that operates other Arcam components. Because of the damage it is strictly spare or repair. Hence 99p No Reserve Ive seen the remote controls fetch 50 quid!

It is in fully working condition having been internally cleaned inside and out. All the pots and switches have been cleaned, so its crackle free, and sounds great! It shows minimal signs of previous use with just the odd light scuffs and scratches as expected with any used item, mainly to the top lid, and a very small dent on the top left hand side (see photos) however they are not highly visible with close inspection, especially when stacked with other equipment on top or placed in a HiFi cabinet. One of the left hand negative speaker terminals is missing a small piece of plastic, however this has no effect on connecting your speakers (see photos). It comes from a smoke and pet free home. From the Owners Manual: The Arcam Alpha 2 is a product of Arcams many years of experience in amplifier design and manufacture. Detailed theoretical analysis and extensive listening have produced a design that is technically outstanding. This design has been realised in practice using high quality components selected for optimum electrical and sonic performance. The result is an amplifier that maintains the full dynamics of a musical performance while reproducing the subtleties and emotion both accurately and naturally. Not only does the Alpha 2 produce a generous 30 watts continuous output per channel into 8 ohms, but its special high peak current output stage will drive loudspeakers whose impedance dips as low as 2 ohms. Unlike many other amplifiers the Alpha 2 can be run continuously at high levels because its cool running aluminium chassis will not overheat. ARCAM rPhono Stage 2019 - Discontinued. Arcam’s rPhono is a well-specified and fine sounding phono stage. Highly recommendedThis is a small aluminium-cased unit – about the size of a typical paperback book – and feels about as solid as a brick. It’s finished beautifully with crisp edges and has a smart, understated appearance.On the front you’ll just find a single indicator light, and this shows the unit is working. Look around the back and things get more interesting.Here you’ll find dedicated inputs for moving magnet and moving coil cartridges along with adjustments for impedance (MC-only), input capacitance (MM-only) and a range of gain settings that range from 30dB all the way to an impressive 82dB. There’s even a rumble filter to get rid of ultra low frequency noise that your record player or disc could possibly generate. All these adjustments are made using a multitude of dipswitches. At a pinch these can be moved with a fingernail, but Arcam, rather thoughtfully, has included a small tool that slots into the rPhono’s base for easy storage. Take a look inside and you’ll find a multi-layered PCB, with a great deal of attention paid to grounding and the power supply arrangement. It’s all about reducing interactions between components, reducing distortions and noise levels. The result should be a cleaner, more transparent sound.
