This listing is for a very good condition Aragon Aurum pre-amplifier. This has the Ingot outboard power supply. This pre-amp features the famous Penny + Giles volume control. It is very low noise and accurate between left and right channels. This was Aragons top end pre-amp and is manufactured in the USA. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with audio specific models. Here is what was upgraded in the main unit and also the power supply; Ingot power supply-caps replaced with (2) Nichicon Gold Tune and (6) ELNA Silmic II-bridge rectifier replaced with (1) HEXFRED fast switching soft recovery bridge from IXYS Aurum Pre-Amp-all smaller and medium electrolytic caps replaced with ELNA Silmic II (14 pcs)-the (2) large filter caps replaced with Supertech slit foil audio circuit specific caps -feet on the Ingot and Aurum have been replaced with the Vibrapod isolators which helps with vibration isolation. The pre-amplifier has a very low noise floor, has great detail retrieval and excellent rhythm and pace, it gets our of the way and lets the music come through as in tended. The pre-amp is working 100% as new. The face and knobs are in excellent condition with no noticeable scratches or marks, the screen printed lettering is also very good. Aragon believes that operating the mechanical switches and controls should provide pleasure to the sense of touch. By turning a machined aluminum knob on the Aragon Aurum, the user will feel the pleasure of operating on of the most precise audio components in the world. The Aragon Aurums dual mono DC supply provides regulation for each channel via discrete transistors and allows customization and optimize the power supply to the signal path circuitry. By properly isolating the signal path of each channel on the circuit board, true separation of the original signal is maintained. The Aragon Aurum, however, goes even further in protecting the source signal from cross talk contamination. It allows for both single-ended and balanced operation, along with RCAs. The single ended output is used as a reference to accurately create the corresponding complementary output. The discrete Class A balanced outputs are then time aligned to within 2 nanoseconds. Balanced mode performance is enhanced when the preamplifier is placed at a distance away from the power amplifier. The Aragon Aurum is as neutral as it gets without showing signs of siding towards any tone. It is able to pick up considerable detail across the spectrum, especially at lower listening levels.
