Acoustic Research AR-2AX Speakers One Owner!!! Up for sale is a pair of Acoustic Research AR-2AX Speakers. - Model : AR-2AX - Maker : Acoustic Research - Serial Number : AX 31225 / AX 31235 As the photos show, they are in fair to good conditions for age. There are scratches and nicks. I did not open the speaker grills because I was concerned that the grills would be damaged when I opened them. The speakers seem to be working well, but after checking the woofers using a flashlight, it appears that the woofers surround foams need to be replaced. Therefore, I am selling the speakers on an AS-IS conditon for repair/parts. Please look at all the pictures for an over all condition, before bidding. Since 1990, I have enjoyed collecting and restoring antique radios and vintage audio.... all items I list will be exactly as described and packed extra well to ensure a safe delivery.. buy with confidence !BUYER is responsible for doing their own research to ensure they are buying the correct speaker/part for their application ! NO ORDER CANCELLATIONS or RETURNS due to buying the wrong, or incompatible type speaker !For sale is a single 10 AlNiCo WOOFER removed from a 1970 later version AR-2aX loudspeaker (s/n 137285). Tested and plays great, but will need new foam surround before using on a regular basis. I have already cleaned off the old residual foam and glue, so will be a much easier job for buyer to refoam.This type woofer was also used in the AR-5 speaker model, and possibly others.Will be well packed for a safe delivery.*** OPTION: Ive re-foamed 1000+ vintage woofers/speakers over the last 40 yrs, most any brand and model you can name. Im a perfectionist with the job... no sloppy glue or voice-coil rubbing, and I rarely need to cut out the center dust cap, and use shims to center the cone. I have a method and knack for doing it. If buyer would like to hire me to install a new foam surround and make this woofer like new, for an additional $60 handling fee (inc parts & labor), message me BEFORE purchase so I can revise the listing. It will add a few days to the handling time so I can order the correct 10 surround.
