A true high end audiophile gem! This one is clean and really minty fresh new! This is a Hybrid wonder. Allows use of different tubes to match your preferred sound or for experimentation with audio quality. This model family mutated through the Solid One Hybrid Tube / MOSFET, then the SA-12 Power Amp and finally with the best sounding amp of all its family, the SA-100! The cleanest most natural sounding version of Counterpoints 100 W/ch RMS Hybrid Tube / MOSEFET Solid State Power Amplifiers. Original owner and purchased new in 1995. Only used in my private, smoke free, pet free, listening room and sadly not as often as I would have liked. Can use different tubes to vary the sound to your preference (will require simple bias adjustment of course). Plenty of info and discussions on line about best sounding tubes for this amp. Comes with factory selected tubes which really do sound amazing. A tech gave it a thorough once almost a year ago. All it needed was optimizing the bias settings based on manufacturers updated settings. Everything else tested close to nominal of specs. All I can say is WOW, the sound is shockingly clear now. Very dynamic, natural, powerful sound! Bass is tight, mids are luxuriously rich and sweet, and the highs are crystal and real. Had it paired with several different speakers over the years. Sounded amazing with all speakers I tried, especially amazing with the Klipsch Cornwalls, ADS 810 and 1290, Yamaha NS1000M (incredibly clear), B&W floor standing pair, and the big Advents. The Trio A-100 was released nearly 20 years ago, and uses the Bang & Olufsen ICE Power 200ASC module to provide 200w per channel into 4ohms. About two years ago, I decided that since Bang & Olufsen had made minor improvements to the 200ASC module over the years, I would reach out to B&O and order the newest revisions and drop them into these amps. As shown in the attached pic, ICE Power module is now version G, times four. Two modules per amplifier. Each amp is a dual mono configuration. This was not a cheap endeavor.. The other change made to the amps is the upgraded Mono/Stereo switches on both units.
