Description
MASTER CD STEREO Wide Band Tape Recorder Overall Frequency Response STANDARD ALIGNMENT DISK Version 3.00. This disk, priced at $35.00 in combination with any CD player will replace a precision audio signal generator which can cost thousands of dollars. It contains minimum necessary signals to test and adjust the Recording portion of any tape recorder to “flat” Frequency Response balance within wide 31.5Hz - 20kHz frequency range. The following procedure must be followed.Connect your CD player output to the input of the tape recorder under test. Select the particular brand and type of tape you plan to use. Using a blank reel (cassette) of this tape, perform the following series of adjustments in the following sequence: First, adjust the recording Level to 0-VU using Track 2, 1kHz signal. Next, adjust the recording head Azimuth for maximum output signal using Track 3 and Track 4, 8kHz and 15kHz tones monitoring recorded signal. Then, adjust the bias control for optimum flatness using Track 5, 1kHz-10kHz-100Hz tone sequence monitoring recorded signal. Next, adjust the noise balance control (if any) for minimum noise (no signal). Then, using Track 6 to Track 21, 31.5Hz-20kHz -20dB tones recorded on the CD adjust the recording equalizer of the tape recorder for most uniform 31.5Hz-20kHz frequency response monitoring recorded signal. Finally, adjust 0-VU level using Track 22, 1kHz 0dB tone monitoring recorded signal. The Master Disk is recorded with 0.002% Total Harmonic Distortion measured at 1kHz using industrial recording and test equipment. Each master track is recorded individually22 tracks 56 minutes including:Track 1. Procedures. Track 2. 1kHz, 0dBref (-12 dBmax), Stereo, 30 minutes. Track 3. 8kHz, -20dBref (-32 dBmax), Stereo, 20 seconds. Track 4. 15kHz, -20dBref (-32 dBmax), Stereo, 20 seconds.
