This was pulled out of the basement the other day when the wife decided we needed to purge things I kids would just throw out when we vacate this planet. It was my fathers before I inherited it and I thought we got rid of it years ago along with the tapes . . . but lo and behold here it is. Anyway, I dont have any tapes (reel or 8 track) to test this. The best I could do was plug it in and check it for movement. And as you can see in the video it operates in forward and reverse. As you can also see there is a panel with veneer damage. So since I am unable to properly test this you are getting it AS IS. This is one heavy piece (38 pounds without the packing material), so it may be a bit expensive to ship. Make sure you check out the FedEx option since they normally are the least expensive for large and heavy items. Of course, if you live in the area, you are more than welcome to pick it up. Due to its weight this will not be available for international sales. Here is some information found on the Audio Database web site about this unit: Multi-purpose tape recorder that supports open-reel and 8-track cartridge recording / playback. With the 1800, you can do stereo recording back to an 8-track cartridge, stereo / mono recording back to an open reel tape, and dubbing from an open reel tape to an 8-track cartridge. To dub from a open-reel to a cartridge, load both the recorded open reel tape and the cartridge and press the transfer button. A shield type head has been adopted for the head part to improve the S/N ratio. Equipped with tone control. It can be used either horizontally or vertically. Open reel deck section The open reel deck uses a 2-lever system that is reliable in operation and robust. You can also switch between stereo and monaural using the track selector. Equipped with a 3-digit tape counter with reset button. Equipped with a tape cleaner and a tape shifter. Cartridge part The 8-track stereo system divides the width of the tape by 1/8 and uses two tracks for each stereo recording and playback. Therefore, you can record and play stereo four times on one tape. The channel is automatically switched at the end of the tape, but you can switch freely by pressing the program selector button. Equipped with a cartridge program selector button that can easily select any program. Equipped with a program indication lamp that also indicates whether the cartridge set is complete or not. 60m (200 ft) cartridge tape delivers 10 minutes per channel, 40 minutes in a row.

Yeah this is the one, I apologize to anyone who had previously looked this, I am trained audio/video technition and we ran our teac cleaning kit on it, but had no tape reel or experience using one, so I apologize. That being said, in the condition its in if i took it part and sold the parts, I know I could get what i was asking for to begin with, just the wood case alone is 425. there is video for this on you tube. Your previous messageI out of precaution took it to a local shop to check it out for me, because as I stated, I dont know everything. I am uploading a video on youtube for you to watch, unfortunate I can not end the auction and relist it for parts, my only option is notifying winning bidder of the situation and canceling the sale. :the volume pots need attention :the 8 track and speakers work perfectly :fwd & rwd working properly - will need belt service soon :The play selection arm is not working properly (this is key to also record :all other functions are working properly I feel your pain with these things. I recently purchase two sets of 1200 dollar speakers, that both need amplifier plates, and can not be fixed. Which our company is investigating an alternative solution to the problem considering most repair we have to make are sub amp plate.
