Player turns on and works, however any disc with even the tiniest scratch will skip. Perfectly clean discs play fine sometimes, but even they skip occasionally. The output volume slider for the headphones is broken. here are some marks and scratches on the top of the player.

The headphone jack works perfect as well, as all other features. This cd player came with a remote, but that isnt there anymore. Note that the player is made to work on 220 Volts / 50 Hertz! To make this set work in a 110 Volts / 60 Hz country, you will likely need a Conversion device but Im not 100% sure of that. This RARE 1986 Akai CD-A70 CD player is tested and is working perfectly and sounds great. It is in great condition with minimal scratches. Akai CD-A7 cd player. Ive had this in my collection for years. Recently, it will play a disc when it wants to. For example, you might have to turn it on and off or eject and return the disc back into the unit maybe 6 times before the red reading disc light appears. When it plays, its great. Rich, warm sound. I have many Akai units, but choose not to invest in fixing it. Very well-built unit, made in Japan. Has programmable capabilities, remote included- beautiful remote, large. Remote not intended to turn power on/off. Once again, very well-built 14 lb. unit. Also, there is static when you move the output slide on the right of the unit. That disappears after you slide it back and forth a few times.If you look closely, you can see the disc is playing- it has the 3 elapsed play modes displayed in the first 3 pics. Once again, listed as for parts or not working.
