Akai GXC 39D Cassette Deck Glass & X-tal Ferrite Head. Last call or it will be dumped. A quality Stereo Cassette Deck made in Japan in about 1975. This machine comes from a private collection and is not working correctly. The Glass Xtal head show very little sign of wear. These were one of the better machines of the period and had a good reputation. It is quite heavy at about 6.5 Kg and has a decent flywheel and a large mains motor. The size is about 44cm wide x 23cm deep x 12cm high. The line inputs and outputs are either DIN or Phono with a ¼” jacks sockets for headphones and microphones. Even though it is nearly fifty years old it has Dolby Noise Reduction and can be used with Chrome or normal tapes. The condition can be seen from the photographs. There is some corrosion to the to the metal parts. All the functions and switches work, however it will not run for more than about 10 seconds on any function. It does record or play during the 10 seconds but shuts off even if not at the end of a tape. I’m sure this can be fixed by someone. It is sold as spares or repair and no returns. Collection in person is welcome from just south of Farnham in Surrey by arrangement and I can demonstrate it too. I will package and send it if necessary for the price shown, UK mainland only.
