Great example of vintage AKAI reel to reel tape machine, fully working order, just been serviced, new belt fitted, potentiometers cleaned and lubricated, heads demagnetised, playing and recording as it should. For cosmetic condition please see attached pictures,great condition, could say as new,just few light scratches around, nothing major, hard to find this days in this fantastic condition Including printable manual instruction and power lead This is a vintage audio equipment, nearly 50 years old,you do need to have a basic knowledge of use, operate and maintenance of the machine! I have had few returns due to buyer complaints the machine is not working because they didn’t put the tape correctly on the reels or didn’t clean heads regularly causing poor sound quality So please, please, please DO NOT BUY if you don’t know how to use and maintaince the machine! Akai 4000ds Mk2 Reel To Reel Tape Recorder Serviced This is a 4 track 2 channel stereo / mono machine running at 3-3/4 and 7-1/2 ips It takes standard 1/4 tape on upto max 7 reels. It has had a service and is fully working All rubber has been cleaned with platenclene and a new counter belt installed , the capstan belt and pinch roller / idlers are in good condition The heads are in good condition and have been cleaned , polished and demagnetised along with the rest of the tape path All switches and pots have been cleaned with servisol switch cleaner All bearings and linkages have been cleaned and relubricated or greased where applicable Transport cams are perfect and its been fitted with a new mains plug It is in overall good condition with a few marks here and there , nothing that is obvious It has been thoroughly tested, play and record over the past week with no issues It comes with the following Original speed sleeve ( often missing ) Copy of the owners handbook 3 tapes to get you going and a matching take up reel 2 new phono leads A small head cleaning kit Overall this is a good condition deck that is fully working and supplied with everything you need to get started I would prefer collection so i can demonstrate it working but will send at your risk well packed and insured if collection is not possible Thanks for looking .
