This listing is for a rare NOS Adcom XC Crosscoil moving coil (MC) phono cartridge with the van den Hul stylus. Please view all photos carefully, as theyre better descriptors than my writing. As you can see from the photos, the XC/HUL label is missing. One older photo from my archives shows the label. I stored the label in the cartridges jewel case, but now the jewel case and box is gone (I suppose the half-empty box looked useful to someone else in the household--my fault for leaving items around!). All other photos were taken today (meaning day listing began). The stylus guard, as shown, is included (thanks to the viewer who asked). The headshell shown thats shown in one photo is NOT included. I had the cartridge mounted for evaluation using a test record (one with a lot of drums) to test for trackability. The Adcom XC is a high output moving coil cartridge (2.5mV nominal), so you dont need a MC step-up transformer or pre preamp; it works and sounds fantastic with a conventional phono preamp and 47k ohm (standard) loading. (Note: Compared to the XC Crosscoil, Adcoms LC-series had low output of 0.35mV nominal.) Again, the phono cartridge being auctioned here is an XC (crosscoil) design with original, high-end van den Hul stylus.
