Plus you will not find many of these around for the lucky people that own them keep them! The design and power is second to none. At 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, this baby will light up your Wilson Audio Sophia Series 3 speakers or anything else you may have in quality speakers. This is a very HIGH CURRENT amp. This amp is the Nelson Pass redesign and upgrade from the 555. If you owned or liked the 555, you will love and go nut’s over the 555 II. The awesome sound stage and clean audio with super low THD, will knock your socks off and blow you away. I personally would put this 555 II up against the big boys like Krell - McIntosh - Jeff Rowland - Classe Audio - Etc. It will hold it’s own, if not easily surpass! BUT WAIT THERE’S MOREThis particular GFA-555 II is very special, it has been upgraded with a Brand New double sided audio driver board with all brand new audio grade 1% tolerance components. Make no mistake this GFA-555 II is not your Dad’s 555 II. It will surpass anything out there in the 555 II world. It’s sonic sound stage is nothing short of Awesome. If you have quality speakers & preamp to run this, you will lack for nothing in incredible listening pleasure from this power amplifier. This Amp is Perfection in Audio Reproduction. I am a one man shop, with 30 years as a electronic tech, so each piece of high quality audio equipment gets my personal attention, of which I repair, clean, adjust, and inspect everything as if I were keeping for my own. I have personally been completely through the internals of this 555 II power amp, insuring everything is to factory specs. I leave no stone unturned. So you can bid / buy with confidence knowing you are going to receive a very high quality amplifier in perfect condition electronically. This unit (after initial check out on a Sencore PA-81 analyzer) has undergone hours of testing under load, driven by a Carver CD TL3200 music source, into a Harman Kardon 825 pre-amp and pair of Paradigm Esprit B/P 8 ohm 300 w Towers. PLEASE NOTE: When I refurbish a amplifier, I don’t just repair the problem and sell it. I completely disassemble it, meticulously clean everything, (just check the pictures) I make the internals as close to new as possible, with the driver board being brand new with all new components. So that you will have a minimum of 25 years of enjoyment from your new amp, without component failure or component degradation. (Excluding) shorted speaker wires, inferior speakers that can’t handle the power, or turning up the volume to the degree that you can fry eggs on the rear heat sinks. Or blow the windows out in your house. :-) All four electrolytic’s 47uf @160wvdc have been upgraded with new Nichicon electrolytic capacitors 100 uf @160wvdc on the power output PCB’s. with added .1 uf 400 wvdc mica’s in parallel. The driver bias voltage was adjusted to 9.5 mv per side.The rail caps have been tested as follows:C1 rated at 15,000 uf and allowable 9,000 ua leakage. Tested 18,000 uf / 340 ua.C2 rated at 15,000 uf and allowable 9,000 ua leakage. Tested 18,100 uf / 380 ua.C3 rated at 15,000 uf and allowable 9,000 ua leakage. Tested 18,100 uf / 390 ua.C4 rated at 15,000 uf and allowable 9,000 ua leakage. Tested 17,300 uf / 320 ua.The ser.# of this unit is 402020523This unit draws .5 amps at 116 vac at idleThe DC offset is .2 mV on the left and .2 mV on the right this is super low, almost perfect. Read full description and see all the pictures. The 555 powers on but only one channel works and it’s fuzzy. The 545 does not power on. The 535 is in rough shape but powers on and both channels work. Internals are very dusty and they are all missing case screws. I did not try to repair or tinker with in any way. I am selling this as is for parts only. No returns for any reason.
