For your consideration is an Acoustic Research AR the Turntable, it was modified by Dave Archambault of Vinyl Nirvana, the motor pulley is a one speed co-polymer one, it has the Mose-Hercules II power supply and speed control, you can switch from 33 to 45 at the push of a button, it came to me with a SME 3009 arm, the current tonearm is a Linn Basik Plus, no cartridge is included in this sale.

Acoustic Research AR The Turntable acquired from the family of the original owner. This turntable comes with a Premier MMT Tone Arm. I gave this turntable a quick test and it has a few issues. The belt was totally stretched out so the platter wouldnt spin, it was a little tacky, so it was discarded. The hinges dont hold up the dust cover. The needle is missing from the Shure Ultra 300 cartridge. And the small lock on the tone arm holder/fork is missing. There is some slight veneer peel near the power switch. The good stuff: Dust cover is clean with no cracks or other obnoxious flaws (some scratches/brush marks.) Motor runs strong with pulley intact. On/off switch works with power indicator lamp. The tone arm is in good shape other than the snapped off plastic tone arm lock on the holder. Needles are still available for the Shure Ultra 300 cartridge. Platter shaft bearing is clean and round. I have done my best to describe the condition of ths quality turntable. Please view the auction photos to evaluate condition. Up for your consideration is this turntable.this unit is not perfect. The wood has some damage, as shown. The unit powers on and motor spins, but the band falls off sometimes, so it probably needs a new band. I WAS NOT ABLE TO FULLY TEST THIS because its missing one of the rca cables to connect it. Im not sure if the needle is complete. Another thing I noticed is that the platter/tone arm moves a lot. Im not sure if thats normal since I know some turntable drive/motor are almost floating in place. I did see it had a hole for transporting it, I will be putting a bolt there for shipping. This is a 1984 turntable that I’ve owned from new, it’s in excellent, near pristine condition; there can’t be many 40-year old Legend turntables around in this condition. I still have the original Installation Manual and an AR Review from the time, which of course come with it; unfortunately the original box and packing are long gone. It’s just been cleaned, serviced, re-oiled bearing, new drive belt and new Rega Carbon cartridge to demonstrate that everything is working as it should be. These turntables still look and sound excellent today and can trace their roots back to the early 1960s. Almost as importantly, it has an elegant and timeless appearance fitting in well with traditional or contemporary decor. Can be viewed and listened to prior to sale at my home in Worsley (Greater Manchester, UK). I will hook it up to the matching AR amplifier and KEF 101 speakers from the same era, which was my setup from the 1980s. I may list these separately. Turntable has not been used for the past 15-years before recently servicing and recommissioning but is now good to go to a new owner.

This turntable is in fine condition with scratches on the dust cover & one poke hole on the front wood panel, shown in the last photo. No manual. This came from the estate of a audiophile and electronics repairman. He had it set up for his own use. It has a Denon DL-301 cartridge and an AR tonearm. The serial number is W-103697. On the back it says: Teledyne Acoustic Research, 110-120 Volts Ac, 60 H2 9 Watts, AR 561 85 Made in USA, Norwood MA. Its a fine AR turntable for any audiophile.
