Decided to let go my beloved Acoustic Energy AE3s, in desire of refurbishment. I have used the last couple years, well until I switched to diying speakers about 18months ago, with driving the bass driver actively. I originally purchased in 2005 from someone, fell in love with them but few weeks later blew the voice coil on the bass driver and could not get a replacement since original product was 1989-199x (?) For years I used a HiVi m8n in there after trying a few, but not the optimal driver. Orig was a 6 ohm plus internal volume about 0.75cuft where most 8 woofers want more volume than that, unless you use a 8 sub but crossover at 300Hz. However, in 2020, I came across these Scan Speak (oemd for Aeriel acoustics) that are suited to that box volume and have low Fs. These woofers are probably better than the originals but I kept it easy and just active amp to bass with 300Hz 18db butterworth and magic was back - deep bass, silky holographic mids. More relaxed on top end which is much better than being bright/siblant. Rear binding post are tri wireable, as think these were partially targeted to studios and with the 300/3000Hz xover points, easy to level adjust to liking. The cabinets while banged up are what really pushes this speaker into elite. Super heavy, thick walls, dead silent to resonances. The mid is in a pipe. Had mids refoamed in 2006, recently acquired correct replacement foams (so not have the lap - had professional shop refoam them).j Might repost as without 8 drivers and half price - message me if that is of interest. I was considering refurbishing these sometime to make completely whole passive again as the woofer is good match and have the skills to incorporate the bottom end of the crossover correctly. Would while in there rebuilt the crossovers since also have dats to measure values. I do remember it was not simple crossover, probably some notch filters and shapers that I was ignorant of at the time when was inspecting in 2020 when replaced the woofer and removed the bass portion of crossover to wire woofer directly to bass binding posts. It is incredibly obvious in short moments listening to this speaker that it is special. Told myself to never sell these but I cant muster the motivation to refurbish to only return them to the side and rest - Im too obsessed/curious on diy speaker building these days.These are for local pickup only in Cbus Ohio area.

I found this at an estate sale. Generally, they were used very little. They spent most of their lives hidden in this box in the attic of this old house. They look great and sound amazing. They are very heavy. They are built to order.They say you only get one chance for a first impression and Acoustic Energy made a fine one as I pulled the first speaker out of its box. The cabinets are impressively heavy at aprox 18 -20 pounds, and my pair was finished in an extremely attractive cherry veneer -- completely unexpected at this price point, where vinyl laminate is the norm. In addition to its fine fascia, the cabinet itself seems to be solid and well braced. In fact, there is a brace that runs the entire circumference of the interior. The front is covered with a simple black grille cloth, behind which is a fully veneered face. The two-way AE 300 includes a single 6.5 metal-alloy woofer and a 1 tweeter that boasts a neodymium magnet and ferrofluid cooling. Acoustic Energy Aegis EVO 3 Speakers. In beautiful virtually mint condition, ash finish. Lovely sound, great bass and a warmth combined with detail. These floorstanders are impressive and only being sold as I have no space for them any longer (wife wouldnt let me wire up four huge speakers in the room!) Collection only due to weight, although if you are within a reasonable distance I would be heppy to maybe deliver (for mileage) or meet you somewhere half way. ACOUSTIC ENERGY 100 SERIES MODEL AE101 LOUDSPEAKERS Set of 3, in the Box. Never used. These are quality Loudspeakers and are in perfect condition & full working order. 100W rated @ 8 ohms. Only taken back out of the box for this photoshoot and connected to my Amp for testing purposes. Was purchased for an AV Setup as a 5 Speaker system many years ago but in the end decided to stick with 2 Speaker Stereo and hence left these 3 in the Box unused. The pair I did use have been sold off years ago with the Amp I was using. Please note that a set of wall hanging brackets are also included. 2 of the Speakers where originally to have the brackets and have tiny indents ready to fit the brackets but in the end decided against it and put the Speakers back in the box and stored in the attic. The box is a little dusty outside but inside is clean as is the packaging. Use as a pair for a standard Stereo Hifi System and keep the other one as a spare ! See last photo for full specs. Id advise collecting them in person from PE6, someone is at home most days and can show them working, although I am prepared to post them within the UK only, but the cheapest option (Parcelforce) will cost £22.
