A average condition example of the classic Thorens TD 150 belt drive record player. In clean condition with an original Thorens arm and head shell. It has an A&R P77 moving magnet cartridge. The stylus is very worn but the cartridge still plays records fine so a replacement stylus should bring this back to life. Have a look on this site to see if a replacement stylus are available. It does not come with a lid. This turntable is working but will require some servicing to get it back to full working order. This powers up and plays 33 fine but struggles to play 45 as the drive belt is very worn and slack. It will need a new drive belt. The motor is reasonably quiet for an old Thorens but the belt bobbin wobbles about a few millimetres. The main wooden plinth is in good condition with only one mark on the rear surface and all the corner joints are intact with sound glue. So you can sand this down to get a fine finish and get rid of the old brown varnish. The alloy top plate in also good with only light rub marks. The arm is working and the bearings seems to move well but it is heavily corroded and will need polishing. Or you can replace it with a modern Rega arm which are much better. Replacement modern arm boards are available for this model. The good thing with this example is the main bearing is in fine condition with minimal signs of play and the inner platter and the outer platter are good and scratch free. Both platter parts are heavily oxidised but as you probably know these polish up well with metal polish and hard work. Some points to mention. The mains cable has been replaced in the past. The previous owner cut the arm cable to just 35 cm which you should bare in mind. He also soldered some cheap plastic RCA plugs on to the cable which will also need replacing as they are corroded but still work. The base board is warped and water damaged, you will need to replace this. So this is probably too good to break for parts but will require some restoration and parts to get it back to proper working order. Please make your decision according to what you want to do to this old record player. Will be well packed for delivery.

I bought this in the early 1980’s for occasional use only, using an original Dual cartridge most of the time. This was and still is an excellent cartridge particularly for those looking for vintage hi-fi. The original case and box are included, the blue sponge in the case has been modified to accommodate the Dual head (see photos). The cartridge and stylus are in excellent working condition.
