Whilst I endeavor to put tubes together from the same year and look the same, this is not always the case. I may have the same tube but from differing years matched up in test results, which means they may cosmetically or internally look a little different... I use a TV7/U military spec Tester which is calibrated . I have 4 of these machines and all display a slightly differing value if I test the same tube, as two testers are never the same. United Speaker was established in 1955 by William Hecht, the inventor of both the soft dome tweeter and dome midrange driver. United Speaker manufactured speakers for Fisher, McIntosh, MCS (JC Penney), and others. United Speaker later became known as Phase Technology in 1981 when they left New Jersey and built a state of the art manufacturing facility in Florida. This 12 woofer came from an MCS 8228 cabinet. It has a 54OZ. square magnet and was only made for the 8228 speaker making it an extremely rare, hard to find driver. This woofer needs refoamed and if you would like the driver refoamed before shipment, I will do it for an additional $40.00. Let me know before you purchase and I will adjust the price. You must shim this driver in order to refoam and the vented fabric dust cap cannot be obtained, so it cannot be cut. It must be carefully removed from the cone in order to be reused. If you dont shim the V.C. gap, the voice coil will rub as the gap is very narrow. I have a horde of spare parts for my MCS United Speaker and NEC model speakers and will be selling other spare drivers and trim pieces as well as a few pair of MCS and Phase Tech speakers from my personal collection. My wife says sell anything I havent used in the last few years.
