Description
CDP-338ESD Sony Compact Disc Player CD Player From Japan Used import F/S Description Condition: Used [Super-quantity model] SONY CDP-338ESD, in excellent condition, highly satisfactory sound quality, absolutely satisfactory, highly recommended Condition No noticeable scratches or stains. This listing is for a Sony “CDP-338ESD” with remote control and instruction manual (copy). Everything in the pictures is included. The exterior is clean. Considering the age, I think it is a beautiful item. It is in good working condition, and there is nothing to be concerned about. I judge it to be in good condition. The model has “3” attached to it, but it is an ace model of Sony that leads to the “5” series later on. As expected of Sonys main players, the overall sound is very powerful, and the push of the low midrange is especially noteworthy. This is something that is very attractive and not found in todays players. The quality of the sound itself is also very high, and of course, the sound quality is good enough to be used even today. We are sure that you will be satisfied with this product, so please consider it. Please understand that this is a used item. ?The appearance is clean, but please do not expect too much. This CD player inherits the design concept of the CDP-X7ESD. A digital sync IC is used to suppress jitter generated during digital signal transmission. In the digital sync IC, digital signals once generated by the signal processing LSI are timed to the precision of the master clock again just before the D/A converter. This means that the master clock, which determines the time axis accuracy of the signal, is directly connected to the D/A converter. By adjusting the timing to the accuracy of the clean master clock, which contains no jitter, the digital signal is once again adjusted and output to the D/A converter. Since the effects of jitter do not extend beyond the D/A converter, phase-accurate and faithful D/A conversion is possible. The digital filter is the CXD-1244, an 8fs 45-bit noise-shaping digital filter. This digital filter performs 8x oversampling, which increases the distance between the audio signal and unwanted high-frequency components by resampling the signal from 44.1kHz to 352.8kHz, eight times the sampling frequency. This allows the use of low-order low-pass filters with gentle cutoff characteristics in the analog section after D/A conversion, greatly improving group delay characteristics. In addition, the CXD-1244 achieves an in-band ripple response within ±0.00001dB and an echo level of -124dB or less by using 45 bits of high-order arithmetic capability. The CXD-1244 performs extremely high-precision operations with an arithmetic bit length of 45 bits. However, since a D/A converter can only have a finite number of bits, rounding errors occur and remain as quantization noise. To solve this problem, a high-resolution D/A converter with excellent characteristics is used and a noise shaping technique is introduced, which is incorporated in the CXD-1244. Noise shaping incorporates the lower bits of information that would normally be lost due to rounding errors into the upper data by utilizing the time interval of oversampling. A digital de-emphasis function is provided. Digital de-emphasis uses digital processing inside the digital filter to perform the de-emphasis processing that is conventionally configured in the analog circuitry, eliminating sound quality degradation caused by parts and circuits and achieving ideal gain and phase characteristics. The D/A converter IC is a high precision linear D/A converter. This is a high-speed operation type corresponding to the data output speed of an 8fs digital filter, enabling more advanced D/A conversion. This improves the linearity of micro-level signals. The D/A converter is a single-chip IC with highly stable conversion operation and linear operation from the most significant bit to the least significant bit, so in principle there are no nonlinear elements in the input/output characteristics. This eliminates the need for additional circuits such as gain switching and simplifies the analog circuitry. Furthermore, the dual configuration with independent left and right channels eliminates phase shift between channels. The audio circuitry after the D/A converter follows the signal flow in a twin mono configuration, eliminating phase shift and mutual interference between channels. The power supply section is equipped with two large, high-capacity transformers that independently palace the digital/servo and audio sections, thereby fundamentally eliminating interference via the power supply. The mechanism section uses Sonys linear motor tracking mechanism, which enables high-speed access with quiet operation, and is equipped with a G (Gibraltar) base unit with excellent vibration damping properties. This is made of calcium carbonate, whose composition is the same as that of marble, reinforced with glass fiber in addition to a special resin, which significantly reduces co-evolution and at the same time provides high rigidity. The entire mechanical block is also made of a floating structure to cut off external vibrations and prevent unwanted vibrations and resonances. The servo circuit is equipped with S Servo III. The S Servo III eliminates adverse noise components through a low-pass filter and sends a smooth servo current to the servo circuit to reduce the effect on the audio circuit and also suppresses unwanted vibrations in the optical system mechanism. In order to eliminate the influence of sound pressure radiated from the speakers, a special rubber damper is installed in the opening of the front panel where the disc tray is stored to improve airtightness when the tray is stored, thereby eliminating the influence of air vibration entering from the front. The chassis structure is based on the FB chassis, which follows the design of the R1 separate CD player, and is made of materials selected for their sufficient thickness and strength. Ceramic insulators are used on the legs to improve stability. The custom edit function combines three functions: time edit, program edit, and time fade. In Time Edit, by entering the time for one side of the tape and pressing the Edit button, the system programs the songs to be played in order from the first song, and when it encounters a song that is over time, it automatically selects the longest song that will fit within the time. Pressing the edit button once will continue to program side A, and pressing it again will continue to program side B. There is also an automatic pause between sides A and B. In Program Edit, after programming the songs to be placed on side A of the tape in the desired order, press the Pause button, and then continue to program side B. The time fade function allows you to set a time in advance, and the unit will automatically fade out and pause for approximately 5 seconds before the time. The manual fader function allows you to fade in and out manually as well. With this function, the fade operation takes about 5 seconds from where the button is pressed. A custom file function is provided with three functions: disc memo, custom index, and program bank. With Disc Memo, when a disc is loaded, the number of songs and total playing time followed by a message you enter yourself appears on the display. Up to 10 characters can be written down per disc, and the available characters are alphabets, numbers, and special symbols, a total of 46 characters. With custom indexing, you can freely set an index of up to 10 points at any desired location per disc, even if no index information is recorded on the disc itself. The index setting has a rehearsal function that allows fine adjustment in steps of approximately ±0.15 seconds. In the program bank, programs set by the program play function, which can play up to 20 songs continuously, can be recorded as they are, and the programs can be recalled with the file recall button. The program bank can also be used to store programs that have been programmed using the Custom Edit function. The file recall function allows you to check what files you have previously stored without having to load a disc. This allows you to check the contents of files without having to load a disk and also allows you to delete files on the spot. A multi-mode timer function allows you to start from any song, shuffle play, or repeat. Combined with the custom index function, it is also possible to wake up playback with any phrase. Two analog output terminals, fixed and variable, are provided. The terminals are gold-plated. The headphone jack has a headphone jack with line-out linked volume that flashes LEDs when the remote control is operated. Two digital outputs, optical and coaxial, are provided. The digital output can be switched on and off. The coaxial digital output has a latch for time-axis correction just before output to eliminate minute jitter components more strictly. The 6-mode repeat function (single/all/partial (remote control only)/program/shuffle/custom index) and auto-space function are provided. A display on/off function is provided.
