Compact solid vintage amplifier, well constructed and somewhat rare unit from Pioneer. I only have this amplifier and no other pieces from this series. Neutral sound quality, not bright (or rolled off) or bass heavy, the Treble/Bass controls seem to have a slightly different contour then usual for the pioneer amps, the Loudness contour also seems different and more subtle, I think this was by design. Shipped via Fedex ground, shipping cost is based on exact weight and size, I dont charge extra for packing or inflate weight to extract additional shipping fees. Sinclair System 3000 stereo hifi amplifier and 4000 stereo FM tuner. I remember drooling over the Sinclair range in the early 1970s but on a paperboys wages I could never afford one. I still love the styling and the cute size of the units today. Sinclair products all had style and for the time were ahead of the game. I eventually bought this set in the 1990s which is complete with original cartons and packing - even the packaging was attractively designed. For the time when most home stereos were very low-fi the Sinclair claimed to be the highest of hifi - a slight exaggeration but still producing a quality of sound most people had never heard before. And it was British made and designed. Three cheers for Sir Clive! A powerful amplifier for the time at 17 watts RMS per channel and using silicon transistors, the amp was cutting edge. The tuner was stereo utilising a phase locked loop circuit and looks fantastic in its simplicity. It is unusual to find a set in this condition, which I would describe as excellent. Complete with original packaging - unfortunately Comet decided to attach an address label - but in a way this adds to the provenance and dates to 1973. Theres an instruction leaflet for the tuner and a five pin DIN lead to connect the tuner to the amp with gold plated pins. I would love to keep this set but I have to be sensible and let something go. I hope you will enjoy the Sinclair as much as I have over the past 30 years. Treated with care there are still decades more to come.
