Very RARE Early 50 Single Tannoy 12 Silver Dual Concentric Speaker type LSU/HF/12L. S/N: 015930 A completely original example of the exceptionally rare Tannoy Silver 12. This Dual Concentric speaker is among the highest rated drive units of all time.I have carried out some basic tests. The speaker works and sounds excellent with great detail in the highs. Cosmetically the speaker is in great condition with the only issue on the frame, but this has no impact on the sound or structure of the speaker. Measured DCR of LF reads 13.9 Ohms.Measured DCR of HF reads 11.3 Ohms. The Tannoy Monitor Silver series was released in the early 1950s and produced until around 1958. Distinguishing physical features of this model are:a silver painted chassis in hammertone enamela lack of a dust-cover on the low-frequency cone Pepper-pot phase compensation channels that form the coupling from the HF diaphragm to the horn throat, which is machined into the magnet pole for the LF driver.
