This listing is for a very clean Sony TA-4650 integrated amplifier. I put Power Amplifier and Preamp in the title because the pre- and power amp sections can be used independently via jumpers on the rear panel (see photos--original jumper blocks included). Everything seems to be working normally except the SPEAKER selector switch when in the A+B position. Speakers connected to terminals A work fine, and same for speakers connected to terminals B. The relay on the PCB appears to be a mute-only switch (provides delay during warm-up to check for DC or to avoid thumps). I dont see any fuses that are linked to the A+B position (over-current protection when 4-ohm speakers connected in parallel). The very top of the PCB flexes slightly due to the weight and tension of a Sony factory wire bundle, so theres a chance the A+B mode is affected by a marginal PCB trace. Again, the amplifier sounds fantastic when using speakers connected to either A or B. All of the input functions work well. For the most part, I used this TA-4650 as a power amp only. Compared to conventional BJTs (bipolar junction transistors), MOSFETs, and even vacuum tubes, I prefer the sound coming from V-FETs better than any tubed or solid-state component. The amplifer is super-quiet (no hum or hiss), and bass is very tight (hard to achieve with many tubed amps). I wouldnt be selling this Sony TA-4650 except that I finally completed building a stand-alone V-FET power amplifier using the same Sony transistor type found in this unit (complementary pairs consisting of a 2SK60 and 2SJ18). The unit being listed here is all original Sony (no repairs, no replacement parts). Sehr seltene Sony TAN-8550 VFET Endstufe Die Endstufe stand lange und war nicht in Betrieb. Funktioniert auf beiden Kanälen. Ein Kanal ist bei kleiner Lautstärke gut jedoch bei anheben der Lautstärke verzerrt der Klang. Die Endstufe befindet sich im Originalzustand uns muss komplett revidiert werden. This is probably Sonys best VFET integrated amp, the very rare TA-F7. A phenomenal piece from the glory days of Japanese audio design. The amp has been serviced, mostly to protect the amp and especially the VFETs against failure. - The output cascode BJTs (common failure point on these) were replaced with modern D44H11/D45H11. - The fusible resistors were replaced with superior modern replacements. The originals are known to drift. - High quality Bergquist silicone thermal pads for the VFETs. - General maintenance/servicing—bias adjustments etc. One thing we overlooked was the VU meter bulbs—they need to be replaced. At some point, you could also fully recap it—my tech considers full recaps very much optional, so he didnt do it. Some caps were replaced in the power supply though. Cosmetic condition is very good with only a few small marks. I think its a nice example overall. Its a 100V unit so youll need a stepdown transformer. For Sale one vintage (1975-1977?) Sony TA-4650 in proper Euro spec (not Japanese / US 110v version) One could write reams on the benefits of Static induction transistors or Vertical Field effect transistors (V-Fets). Just do an internet search if thats new to you. (Too expensive to produce & too hard to use, seems to have been their death knell) But... V-FETs - Sony went off and developed a transistor that worked like a Valve/Tube = Result a transistor amp that sounds like a tube amp! So these are *bit* famous for their musicality, among other things. Only problem is, theres getting less and less of them because some common diodes in the associated circuit have a tendency to die, taking the whole merry show with them. Actually, Sony went off and re-invented the wheel several times. Not only is the Output stage V-fet; so is the phono stage, very specifically aimed at turntable users (I am not one) but the 2sk79s are similar to an ECC88 - So you get the idea by now... This amp has been subject to a full restoration. The TA-4650 is very similar to the TA-5650 but without the paralleled output devices (2SK60 & 2SJ18), so lower power, but potentially cleaner sound. Ich biete hier meinen Vintage-High-End Vollverstrker von Sony an. Fantastischer Klang, der auch von neueren Gerten kaum erreicht wird. Kann natrlich gerne vorgefhrt werden. Der Verstrker befindet sich optisch in einem neuwertigen Zustand. In diesem Zustand drfte es weltweit keinen zweiten geben. Das Terminal fr Speaker A wurde auf Bananen-Buchsen umgebaut. Original natrlich noch vorhanden und kann bei Bedarf wieder ohne Beschdigung zurckgebaut werden. Technisch absolut einwandfrei. Hier kratzten keine Regler oder Tasten. SONY TAN-5550 VFET Endstufe & TAE-5450 Vorverstärker. Bei der Vorstufe funktioniert leider die (Tone) Klangregelung nur auf einem Kanal (Ein Kanal geht der andere ist leiser). Ohne Klangregelung funktioniert die Vorstufe einwandfrei. Sonst alles andere funktioniert. Phono Eingänge usw. Es wurden alle Elko‘s getauscht also die Vorstufe wurde recapt (Alle Nichicon Muse usw. ca 50 Stuck sind getauscht) Ich bin sicher das man die Klangregelung reparieren kann. Die Lampe in dem Ein/Aus Knopf leuchtet nicht. Die Endstufe funktioniert und klingt sehr gut, wurde aber nicht recapt. Es wird empfohlen die zu überholen.
