No corrosion in the battery box, not a scratch, and it has the soft case too.When I was traveling on the water (Sail and Motor for 18+ years) this was my backup GPS. Because the antenna can be removed and an external antenna connected, and then an external power / data connection can be made, this one GPS will connect in the cabin with a PC (laptop or other) and youll have navigation. Even if you lose all your electronics, this unit will work and get you back to shore if you know how to use charts. Its fully waterproof, even if connected to the Garmin power /data cord. I dont have the data cable for this; it was installed in the last boat which Ive sold.
