Purchased 25/04/1991-Orginal receipt and instructions included. At the time I think it claimed to be the worlds slimest Walkman with Radio.I have replaced the drive belt (cleaning all components) and fitted new gumstick battery and the Radio station memory battery. Video showing stripped down unit playing and autoreverse teseted. Its playing via headphones, in noisy enviroment and recorded on phone, with headphones on, sound is better! Includes original charger and EBP-7 AA Battery holder Original neoprene case with faded logo Original 3.5mm headphone adapter. (Replacements are £14 from China!) Please note that Play/DIR/FWD/REV buttons are intermittent on the unit but can be operated via the headphone remote. All functions tested including auto Reverse. I remember buying this to cheer myself up after spending 18 months traveling the world and returning to UK and reality, wondering what to do next. It was by far my most extravagant purchase at the time and I looked after it. Fast forward 30+ years and a house move prompted a try-out and as expected the belt had perished but it had life so I held on to it. Then, an 80s themed party prompted a flurry of activity buying the spares and cleaning the gunk from the old belt (took hours) and with the help of a tape recorded by my dad from the Sunday night chart show from 1982, I was listening to the soundtrack of my youth, although some of his choices were not to my tastes (honestly-Shaky?) and he was not quite quick enough on the fader sometimes. Considering the dubious recording method, Realistic Ferrochrome tape (I was a TDK SA90 fan) which has been subject to 40 years of degradation, it sounded surprising good. Clearly not as good as FLAC files over digital and subject to wow and flutter, but entertaining, like watching TOTP reruns on Friday nights. I have been listening with Dolby and mid range EXDBB for about 3 hours over last two days. FM radio is good but no strong stereo stations where I live. I understand that tape along with vinyl is enjoying a revival so once again new music can be purchased in cassette format.So why sell? After going all in on CD and then converting 800 CDs to FLAC I cant justify starting out again on cassette.Serial numbers recorded and sent via signed for delivery.
