Up for bid is an undamaged but only MALFUNCTIONING Sony Extended standard disc player. Brushed aluminum chassis, sled and faceplate. It has a tracking problem. It began as not being able to complete track playback and progressed to unable to start one. It quite likely can be at least partially resolved with one of the reference calibration discs as outlined in the service manual but I cant find one to purchase. I did not see evidence of physical damage to the tracking gearing and that will operate on manual servo as intended with the diagnostics which can be accessed with the remote. The self-diagnostics function reveals no software problems or a firmware problem. All of the EMG history is stored. All of the mechanicals for the disc loading, spindle rotation and lock, and ejecting are functioning properly. The tracking problem began gradually until non-functioning as described above to reiterate. The laser is powering on and functioning. Remote is included but it is missing the thumbwheel that is used only for some functions of slow motion frame by frame. This player is very capable; you can even program edit many movies to automatically skip parts of your choice to turn an otherwise R rated movie into PG every time its played. Original power cable with two added ferrite clamps. If you can fix it my loss is your gain.
