Sony CMT-CP500MD Micro Hi-Fi Stereo System with CD player, MiniDisc player recorder editor, Tape Cassette player, FM/AM radio (not digital so wont pick up digital radio signal) analog line-in input and optical line-in input - see photo of back for the auxiliary inputs and outputs. Headphone jack on the front at the bottom. The CD player, minidisc player and tape player have all been tested and are working. I replaced the ejector mechanism belt (basically a tiny black rubber band) inside the minidisc player as it wasnt ejecting properly and now it ejects fine. SONY CMT-CP500MD / HCD-CP500MD Cassette / CD / MD PLAY & RECORD. First point, in the spirit of full disclosure, most times the minidisk gets stuck when ejecting. I think (well I’m almost 100% sure) it’s to do with the little flap not opening. I only rarely actually use the minidisk, so I just keep a lollipop stick nearby and use that. Second point, at some time in the past, I took the fabric grills off the front of the speakers because I loved the look of them, and have appeared to lost them in a move somewhere along the way. The rest of the stereo, where to begin. It’s awesome, the speakers look and sound amazing (I prefer them with the grill off - see above). All the functions work. The tape has no slow down due to age, the CD sounds immaculate. The Minidisk is great and plays / records without missing a beat. The sound from this hifi is rich and deep and sounds just amazing. There is no remote and no FM aerial, you will need to provide these. I have got it set up on my universal remote, but I’m keeping that as it does my amp, soundbar etc etc Honestly, for it’s age this is a lot of hifi. I can see the prices they sell for on eBay. Mine is priced to sell at a lower price considering the pain in the butt that the minidisk is. You may be able to fix this, or you may take it somewhere to get it fixed? (Hence my price under the market to help fund that - like I said, never bothered me really). If you are not 100% satisfied then a full refund will be given.

Ive tested the cassette, minidisc and CD functions and all work. (Speakers sound really great I suddenly had doubts about selling but must do!) I also most recently used the analog in function to use it as TV speakers and that works great too. I havent tested the radio as I dont have the receiver that came with the stereo. The FM signal does crackle however so with an aerial Ive no doubt it will work. I noticed a slight squeak to the cassette mechanism as it played which may be age. The cassette played fine regardless. No remote control unfortunately but the amount of buttons on the front mean it can still be operated. The front panels to the speakers are bobbly thanks to two kittens who found them to be a lovely scratching post and we werent quick enough to intervene! The speakers underneath are in fantastic condition however. I always try to look after my possessions so Id say this is in great condition given the age. Hopefully it can find a new home. Now won’t playback. Likely belts have gone. Mini disc, cd and radio all working well, includes genuine working Sony remote control Remote control has discoloured with age and exposure to sun. Battery compartment is clean and free of rust or corrosion. Batteries not included Minidisc tested and working well. Playback functions tested and all working, also controllable via the remote. Have also tested the Record on minidisc, with the radio on I pressed record and then play on the minidisc to begin recording, you have to do this on the unit itself not possible from the remote. Have also recorded from cd in the same way. All working well. CD player tested and working, a little noisy when disc is loading, is not noisy while disc is playing. Eject on minidisc and on cd is only possible from the unit, no eject on the remote. Radio tested and working, reception is ok with the included cable aerial, would benefit from a stronger/ better aerial. Speakers used working well, composite wood boxes with wood effect laminate. Some damage to speaker boxes. Speaker nets are grubby with fabric pulls and some damage/ holes on left grill bottom right see photos.
