This 1970s Sharp GF9090E boombox has been fully refurbished, including new belts, capstan pinch roller, rubber flywheel take-up idler tyre, capacitors, and an intergrated circuit sound chip. The tape heads have been demagnetized, and a new motor with speed adjustment control has been added. The electronic repairs were carried out by a qualified hifi specialist. The radio and light function properly, and the APSS system (Automatic Programme Search System) finds the next track on the cassette in forward or reverse mode. The sound quality is superb, despite its age. The battery compartment is clean and there are no signs of leakage from the batteries. Sharp GF9090E 1970S BoomboxTape player has been fully refurbished,including new belts,capstan pinch roller,rubber flywheel take -up idler tyre and new capacitors,plus an intergrated circuit sound chip.Tape heads have been demagnetized.Also a new motor which has speed adjustment control. I replaced the belts and capstan pinch roller myself, as well as replacing the rubber flywheel take - up idler tyre which had turned into a black goo.This is the main reason why these cassette players end up chewing up cassette tapes.What happens is over time the rubber flywheel take - up idler disintegrates and the cassette idler wheel cannot turn,hence tapes get ruined.
