Play and record modes are alll good working.It records from the radio- if the radio is on or from the built in microphone when radio is off. It is consuming only 5 mA from battery and it is always on when radio is on. The original bulb backlight is still exist and good working. It is on when you push the Light button on top but it stays on for 10-15 seconds. It is just give some extra light to the LED backlight i f you need. As you see on the photo, the new LED backlight is very good very useful with that super bright white LED.Buzzer disconnected so there is no BEEP at the shortwave band borders. No MUTE modification in the radio but it is acceptable without that MUTE modification because the very brief muting effect. Upon your request I can include one brand new blank tape and a power adapter for 120 Volt AC. Radio has an external antenna connector- see it the gold tone connector on the top left side the RCA connector. VINTAGE Sangean ATS 818CS Short Wave All Band World Radio Receiver EXCELLENT. This is a Sangean Radio from the mid 1990s in essentially NEW condition. My mother used to listen to a guy named Art Bell on the radio and these were marketed through his radio program. She was excited to get this and even wrote notes all over the receipt (cost 225) as you can see in the pictures. It has been stored in a closet since then. Comes with all the original paperwork and the original power adapter. You are supposed to use the adapter primarily with the batteries as a backup. I tested it some months back because I was going to list it at that time, but never did. Works great. The box is torn near the top (see pics). It will be well packed. Please see all pics for details.
