The Player was modified extensively and its key modification is tube output stage providing signal conversion and amplification directly from TDA 1541 a dac chip output.No semiconductors or electrolytic capacitors left in signal path.This modification was developed to improve sound quality and found very successful by buyers in our previous projects. General condition The player is in good cosmetic and fully working condition. Its mechanism is working silently and is stable in operation, reads all CD and CD-R with random access in less than 3 sec. The player is supplied with its original remote control and quality mains cable, in original packaging as shown in pictures. Short technical description. Excellent quality Rotel RCD 855 is a classical audiophile player made with the very best parts available at its time - the famous TDA 1541a DAC, possibly the most musical dac chip ever made, and equally famous Philips CDM 4 swing arm laser mechanism, the perfect technical match to the dac.The player is reputed not only for its original high sound capabilities, but as well as object to many successful upgrades, leading to even better sonic performance. The original DAC board of the player was modified extensively, in particular aged electrolytic capacitors are replaced with much better quality ones - Roedenstein Gold Bullets , polypropylene ones in dac domain, Panasonic FC for power reservoirs - all these upgrades are well developed and proven to be effective for sonic improvements. Key modification is the tube output stage. It is made by replacement of operational amplifiers with valve based output stage . Tubes are 6N2Pi Russian subminiature output triodes in their best EV MIL spec., capable for low output impedance and very low noise and distortions. Tube stage is made with high quality components as well, like audiophile grade polypropylene output capacitors. Rotel RCD-855 CD Compact Disc Player with Dual TDA1541A DAC Digital Converter in excellent condition with Serial number: 96227012. It shows the minimal amount of previous use with just the odd light scuffs and scratching (mainly to the top lid) as expected with any used item. IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: There is a slight malfunction with the front display in which some numbers are displayed incorrectly. Number 1 for example is displayed as number 7, giving the illusion that there are 72 tracks instead of 12 tracks as shown in the photos. Numbers 4 and 5 are also displayed as 9s. I investigated the problem but was unable to find any faults or loose connections. Its has no effect on the CD Players performance and everything else works as expected. Recently serviced prior to sale with the internal mechanism cleaned and re-greased, and the lens physically cleaned. An excellent sounding CD player thanks to its high performance dual TDA1541A DAC. Includes the power lead and re-printed copy of the owners manual. No remote controller is included, however replacements are often available on eBay. ROTEL RCD-855 HP Dual D/A Converter Compact Disc Player ERROR Non-working Unit is very clean cosmetically and looks to be in great condition, but when I inserted a CD, it says “error” on the display screen. No idea what the issue would be. The tray open and closes fine! No remote or any other accessories.
