You are bidding on an (RCA) Victor type 245 tube amplifier. This is the power amp used on several RCA Victor radio models, some with a phonograph. They use two type 245 amplifier tubes driven by a 226 with a type 280 rectifier tube. The amps are popular among audiophiles with the dual 45 outputs and easily obtained circuit diagram to convert for more convenient input. This example is offered for parts or repair, as the power transformer has been replaced, and is untested. The tubes included are for display, and the UX 280 is weak and both globe shaped 245s are gassy. The replacement power transformer is marked 9P6, so it appears to be from a Majestic Model 90 series radio which uses a similar tube line-up. It is quite a bit larger than the original. The good news is that the other transformers in the amp all show good continuity, so appear to be good. The amp has two controls, one for tone and the other for hum adjustment. It measures roughly 13.5 by 9.5 inches at the base, and 8.25 inches tall. The Nipper logo is on the top of each original can. Shipping weight is 42 pounds, but I could remove the extra heavy transformer and save a lot on the shipping cost, if desired. No shipping to China. They were manufactured in the United States in the early 1930s. These were tested on my Dan Nelson calibrated TV-7B. They have been tested for plate current (Ip), shorts, gas, and transconductance. The tubes test very strong with readings of 72/38 mA and 72/33 mA. Minimum is 47. All tubes are tested on my calibrated TV-7/B or on my calibrated Hickok 539C. All of these tubes have been tested for transconductance, shorts, gas, leakage and life. All tubes meet or exceed manufacturer published specifications of transconductance (Gm) for the specified tube type. All tests are tested twice - prior to the listing and prior to shipping. One is branded Cunningham UX345, and most of you already know these were made by RCA for sale by Cunningham. These have the black plates, engraved bases, and large getters.They were tested on our Triplett 3444A tester with results of 1850 and 1750, where 2100 is the expected new value and 1300 is the acceptable minumum.
