This listing is for a VINTAGE PANASONIC WALKMAN CASSETTE PLAYER RQ-NX10 in silver color, very nice condition, hardly used, looks like brand new. This walkman has been restored, so it is guaranteed to work properly. This walkman has a standard jack so many different brands of headphones can be plugged into it. This walkman uses one standard AA size batteries for power. PLEASE NOTE: This item has been restored, so it is guaranteed to work properly. Type of restoration done: Rubber drive belt was replaced with a new one and the speed was adjusted properly with Sony Professional test tape at 3000Hz. ABOUT THE RESTORATION: Why is it important for the item to be restored? If you are buying vintage electronics that were NOT restored (no matter if used or brand new sitting in the box) and the sellers state were tested and work, you should know that they dont work as good as the day they left the factory without the need of any restoration work done. You should know that it is extremely rare( 1 in 10 or 20 chance) to see a vintage item working PERFECT after sitting for some 20+ years without the need of any restoration work done. This is because rubber gets old, plastics shrink and crack, electronic components that have liquid in them wont give the same performance as freshly made ones, etc. That is why it is important to buy an item that has been checked and restored. Repair places dont do restorations but just fault finding. They just find what electronic component is causing a device to malfunction and replace that component only. This is because it takes a lot of time to restore an item and unless you ask and are ready to pay, they wont do it.

Panasonic RQ-NX10 stereo personal cassette player. Purchased new in the late 90s/early 2000s for my daughter. It was working OK about 6 months ago when I tried it with some old tapes Id found and since then its been in a box in a wardrobe. However, its NOT WORKING now and so is being offered for spares and repairs only. As you can see from the photos, the three red lights are illuminated with a battery inserted but when you put a tape in, there are the noises normally associated with tape start up (a bit of clicking and whirring), but then nothing. None of the buttons responds to being pushed. If you open the player, take out and re input the tape - nothing. But if you remove and re-insert the battery, then the whirring noises start over again. Im therefore assuming - rightly or wrongly - that its some sort of a power issue. I simply dont know. Obviously not working and sold as such. That said, the case is in very good condition and if it can be repaired, then there are switches for normal/metal tape, noise reduction, S-XBS and volume. Its a battery operated unit. Also please see the photos showing the inside of the battery compartment. The inner metal is marked. I have no idea if its been corroded but I dont ever remember a battery leaking so it could possibly have been there from new. Thanks for looking. Economy postage. UK mainland only.
