This is a vintage Marantz portable cassette player/recorder model PMD221 with the OEM power adapter DA-36.The unit shows in very nice clean condition commensurate its age, with only minor scratches, no dents or cracks. Likewise the battery compartment is whistle clean with no signs of corrosion. A previous owners name has been etched into the bottom plate. It has been tested in that batteries were installed, the unit powered up, then the low battery light came on. The batteries were removed and the power adaptor inserted and the unit powered up properly. A cassette was installed and the Eject/Stop, Rec, Play, Review, Cue, Pause, Counter, Reset, VU Meter, built in mic all worked properly. The problem found is in the volume level control that has to be played with in order for it to function. Needs to be replaced or more likely a good cleaning will suffice. No other tests were performed. Please examine the photos carefully as they form an integral part of the description and ask specific questions prior to bidding or buying.
