I will state this up front, so no one thinks this is a parts unit. This is a fully functional, professionally recapped Krell KAV-500. The capacitors are all familiar name brand, Nichicon, Rubycon, Chem-icon from Mouser. High temp caps were used because of the close amp board arrangement and the operating temps of this model. The pcbs and other components were inspected for signs of heat damage or anything that would suggest a problem or soon failure. This amp has lived an easy life, and the interior of it shows that. So here is this amps story.... This Kav-500 is a full 5-channel model. It had been a great, daily driver amp for me, and due to some changes in my furniture, I was forced to sell it on eBay for a cooler, class-d option. It sold and was doubled boxed with excessive packing. Unfortunately for me and ultimately the buyer, FedEx somehow damaged the amp by breaking off the two dark grey faceplate panels. The buyer wanted a flawless faceplate, so I agreed to a refund and took the old girl back. The faceplate trim pieces have two sets of mounting holes, so I flipped them around and reattached them. There are broken screws stuck in the trim that are visible if you look at the backs of the trim. There is also some scratching and a ding on the corners of one of the trim that remain as a reminder of its shipping mistreatment. I tried to photograph all the damage I could see, so you will have no surprises. Also, there is some old masking tape residue that was obviously used to label the channels by the person who owned it before me. Its pretty dried up, and I havent been able to remove it, but I also didnt use any harsh chemicals because I didnt want to risk damaging the powdercoat. While I had it back, it was professionally and completely recapped front to back. All electrolytics have been replaced, so whatever physical shortcomings this amp carries is made up for in sonics and longevity. Im hoping that this sells to someone who doesnt mind the character that this amp now has and instead enjoys the music it delivers. It functions with no issues, and all channels work as they should. Buyer pays shipping and I will cover the insurance. It will be double boxed and packed appropriately. In the high end space, Krell needs no introduction. I purchased the 5 channel 1500 watt amplifier new from an authorized dealer in Boston. I no longer need it. The amp produces an absolutely amazing life like sound and in great condition as the pictures show. One channel does not work so the amp has been running at 375 watts per channel. The 5 channel can be repaired at Krell and the prices reflects it. I have been using it as a 4 channel amp and truly enjoyed it. The amp is a beast and weights 125 lb. Krell the leader in audio engineering. Founded in 1980. Americas largest manufacturers of high end audio systems. Krell is the premier manufacturer of high end performance audio equipment. This is a beautiful silver, 5 channel in excellent condition amplifier upgradeable to 7 channel. A great piece to start your home theater. This amp pairs perfectly with the S-1200 and S1200U surround sound processor. This is a class A amplifier which has the highest sound fidelity giving you the option to use as a 2 channel for music enjoyment. It was sent in for service to Krell around 2013 or 2014, it was tested upon arrival and working according to manufacturers specs. The amplifier was then put back into the manufacturers box till date. While being serviced there were two small marks about the size of the head of a pin done to one side panel, but in my opinion they are not noticeable unless you use a magnifier. To correct the issue the manufacturer mailed me two side panels that are easy to change and will be shipped as well, bringing the condition to excellent. I have been an eBay member for close to 30 years with a continuous rating of 100%. My original account which may still be active by a previous user was Dovoline.
