Caution! This Hafler DH500 Amplifier has the power to drive any speaker to destruction! I measured 270 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms, 0.6% THD and over 400 Watts into 4 Ohms (I dont have a big enough load to test at full power). I have confidence that this amp will last for years if not mistreated, and guarantee it for 30 days. Hafler Amplifiers were designed as super amps, with great sound for picky audiophiles, along with wide bandwidth, very low harmonic and IM distortion and high damping factor. This amp more than holds it own against far more expensive current generation amps-see the many online reviews. Speaker outputs are fused with 7 Amp Fast Blow fuses. You may wish to lower the value to protect your speakers--see enclosed manual for details, a free, $15 addition. Someone had worked on this amp before I got it. I have replaced incorrect transistors with the correct new ones and have done other repairs as needed. In addition:Poor quality RCA Input connectors replaced with High End, heavy duty, Gold plated typesStock Speaker connectors replaced with High End. heavy duty, Gold plated banana /spade typesPoor quality RCA Input wiring replaced with Silver-plated, shielded Teflon wiringAdded surge protection to prevent transformer and component damageCleaned and lubricated fan. Fan is thermostatically controlled, and is inaudible at low speed. Medium and even High speeds are barely audible. These rarely comes on in normal operationMain power supply capacitors were checked for correct values and low ESR; 4 Power Supply capacitors replaced with better than new, hi temp, long life, low ESR types (see photos)New, higher current speaker protection relay-old one was a known problem (15 Amp instead of 5 Amp)New, heavy-duty ground buss bar for lower power supply noise & hum.Original, 2-wire AC cable replaced with Audiophile quality, Rhodium plated, 3-pole, OFC, shielded, 12 Ga.
