Pair of Cambridge R50 transmission line loudspeakers. In very good condition and have been upgraded internally with the following:Falcon Accoustics High Power crossover, i believe it is a 33m, all wiring replaced with 19 strand silver plated copper, long haired wool removed(as far as possible) and thoroughly teased out as per original spec. all drivers removed cleaned and tested. All wiring has been soldered. Drivers then secured with T nuts and bolts to aid removal if required(to avoid having to remove complete baffle) Except the Coles as that can be removed easily. The cabinets have been cleaned and wax polished but are as originally built. The teak veneer is in good condition but does have some slight damage and scuffs. These are quite minimal but please see pictures as i have tried to show these as far as my camera will allow.The cabinets have also been fitted with Monacor 10mm spikes. These are original R50s from 1971/2. The drivers are dated 1971 so top and back are covered with black formica which is in very good condition. New terminal posts are fitted. I did this work approximatelly 6/7 years ago and they sound excellent. Please note the paving slabs shown are not part of the auction. Please study the pictures carefully and also feel free to ask any questions. They are only being sold as i have had another pair of floorstanders left to me by a friend and have no room for both. Please note these are large and heavy: 42H x17 1/2Dx 13W. wt. is given as 98lb ea. Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE A pair of Cambridge Audio R50 transmission line speakers using the classic drive unit lineup of KEF B139, B100 & T27 with Coles 4001 supertweeter. These are in original condition with almost unmarked cabinets, there is a small scratch in one side of one speaker and a small piece of veneer missing from one rear corner. Also the badge is missing from the front of one of the speakers. I have briefly tested them and confirmed all drive units are working. They were bought as a project for upgrading which has not yet been done and will come with a pair of Falcon Acoustics upgraded crossovers bought earlier this year at a cost of over £200. These use audio grade components and an updated circuit based on the acoustic Butterworth filter developed for the KEF 104ab. The new crossover also allows biwiring which would need additional connectors to be fitted to the speakers. My partner has a pair of similar HFA transmission line monitors with the same drive units and we can confirm the new crossovers will make a considerable improvement to the sound quality – in fact upgrading hers was the reason I went looking for these and I’m only selling them because I had an opportunity for a different upgrade which made these surplus. I don’t have boxes for these so collection only please, although I would consider delivering within a short drive from PL21, South Devon for £1 per mile.
