For sale is a used pair of Bowers & Wilkins high-end in-wall speakers, made in the UK. Note that all high-end B&W in-wall and in-ceiling speakers are no longer manufactured in the United Kingdom. This pair was uninstalled from my previous apartment. The in-wall metal brackets were customized from the original B&W backbox (BB Signature 8NT) to achieve a better fit. I trimmed the front end of the backbox by about 1 inch and added MDF to the sides, resulting in an improved installation. The system is built around an extremely strong and rigid glass-filled polymer thermoset baffle. This provides the foundation for the drive units and fits into a steel (rather than the more common plastic) wall frame, commensurate with the size and weight of the product. Two 180mm (7-inch) paper/Kevlar® cone drivers provide well-extended and dynamic bass. Centrally placed between them is a sub-baffle, supporting the midrange and tweeter drivers. This sub-baffle may be rotated in 90 degree steps so that, no matter which way the complete system is oriented, the midrange and tweeter can always be positioned one above the other to optimise horizontal dispersion and maintain the correct balance for a widespread group of listeners – especially important for a centre channel.
