Selling my Metrum Acoustics Amethyst (120v) with both DAC3 and DAC2 modules. Easy to swap to your preferred sound (just need a small hex key allen wrench to pop off the top). To my ears, DAC3 provides a noticeably higher resolution sound, increasing the soundstage and filling out the highest and lowest parts of the spectrum, but DAC2 still has a bit of analog warmth and charm. This unit was sent directly to Metrum Acoustics in October 2022 for the DAC3 upgrade and to get everything checked out and confirm everything is in perfect working order. There is a small fleck on the volume dial (shown in a close-up photo) as well as a small nick on one of the corners of the face plate (also see close-up photo). Otherwise, the unit is in excellent condition, as it was used lightly. Im selling because Im slowly stepping away from audio, as work and family have begun to take up more and more of my time. Ive loved this DAC while Ive had it, as it gave me a real appreciation for what a NOS DAC can be -- as well as hifi audio in general. Price reflects very good used condition as well as DAC3 upgrade. Immaculate condition. This is essentially the Metrum Onyx DAC with the addition of a quality pre amplifier. All original packing, remote control. Just over a year old. Nearly a year warranty period remaining. A very good DAC usually retails at £3,199. 4 x DAC3 modules which are the latest and currently unavailable versions of their DAC modules. I will also include the 4 x DAC2 modules, you can then swap them around to see which you prefer and recoup some cash by selling the other set. Takes AES, USB, Optical and Coaxial. Outputs RCA and balanced XLR. Id put the pre amplifier section up with Hugo TT. Signature sound is not far off the TT also as a DAC in general but a bit leaner and thus probably a little more revealing. ****Buy with confidence. On ebay 20+ years, sold many good pieces of hifi.
