WE HAVE POWERED THIS UP AND ALL MOTORS APPEAR TO BE WORKING BUT OTHERWISE NOT TESTED. THIS COMES WITH ORIGINAL MANUAL AND SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM SERIAL NUMBER 60307 - 04589 THE AUTO REVERSE FEATURE IS NOT WORKING BUT BELIEVE TO BE A BROKEN SPRING AND RECTIFIABLE.

AKAI X-2000SD Multi Tape System Plus 15 Open Reel Tapes. Built like a tank (with the weight to match at around 20kg) this akai x2000sd would have cost £300 new in 1973, which is around £3000 now! Able to play and record on open reel tape, mini cassette and 8 track (as well as transfer one tape to another) this is a great all in one unit for tape formats. Featuring an in built amplifier and speakers it can be used standalone, or set to line out and attached to a more modern amplifier system. As with most items of its age, the belts were a problem, I have replaced all auxiliary belts (that run the mini cassette, 8 track, counter functions) and shortened the original primary belt to use its reel to reel function. Ideally this shortened belt needs changing, as although it functions at perfect speed (and superb sound quality) on reel to reel, you can hear where the belt has been joined as it passes over the small pulley the added load of the other functions causes the belt to slip and 8/track and mini cassettes to run slowly. Please bear this in mind when bidding, consider it as working, but in need of work to realise its full potential. Externally the unit is in very good shape for its 50 years, with minimal marking on its fake woodgrain. Includes 15 tapes of assorted size and length.
