Akai 1710W 4-Track Reel To Reel Tape Recorder - Built In All ValveAmplifier I am selling this Akai 1710L 4-Track Reel To Reel TapeRecorder. It was my late father-in-law’sand has had very little use over the years (he was a Mechanical Engineer) andused it just for hobby purposes.The item is in excellent workingorder (video can be sent of it working). The item comes in original wooden case (which has a few marks).The 1710 is a quarter-track stereorecorder of hybrid design, using tubes for the power amplifiers and biasoscillator and silicon transistors in the preamplifier stages.It has three speeds (7½ , 3¾ and 17/8 ips) and speed change was implemented by the motor switch and the additionor removal of a capstan sleeve. Reels of up to 7? could be accommodated.The internal amplifiers produces 5watts per channel and the recorder had two 5 x 7? side-mounted speakers. Models were prefixed with a W (wooden case).Technical Details Brand: Akai. Model:1710W. Country of Manufacture: Japan. Release dates:1968 - 1971. Speeds: 1 7/8, 3 3/4, 7 1/2. This was my dads and it has not been used in the last 50 years, i would say, but carefully stored away.I have powered it up and it seems to be all working. I do not have any tape to confirm though.It is sold as-is. As you can see from the photos, it is in excellent vintage condition. I would say Mint condition as my dad treated everything with respect and everything was packed up so neatly and covered. I hope it goes to a lovely new owner who will appreciate this. This was working / reels turning etc, stop, ffw, rwd, etc, all seemed to be working ok (no tape so unable to fully test) and I was pressing all the buttons etc to fully check functionality (for this listing) and then it just stopped working. Havent checked fuse. So now its being listed for parts not working / spares / repairs model and condition as per images from a pet and smoke free home UP TO TEN WORKING DAYS DESPATCH TIME
