Vintage Aiwa AM/FM Stereo Tuner R50 Quartz Digital Synthesizer (Model ST-R50H) in working order. Made in Japan - Classic 80s! Sounds great.Please note -- important! -- this is a tuner, meaning it has no built-in amplifier or speaker. You will need to connect it to an receiver/amplifier (plus speakers) for home stereo use. It is used, and has some cosmetic blemishes -- some discoloration on the top, a scratch on top that is pictured, and some writing in permanent ink on the rear. Please check the photos carefully.That said... This is fun stereo receiver with some neat futures:First, its small -- less than 10 inches wide. And yet it sounds as good to me as full-sized home stereo tuners that sold for similar list prices in the 80s.On the AM band it has European/Japanese-style 9 kHz stepping when you use seek tuning, instead of the 10 kHz steps used in the U.S. So when seeking it may stop near but not exactly on the actual frequency - but its easy to finish the tuning with the manual tuning buttons, and there are 6 memory buttons for storing favorites on both AM and FM (18 total) that will return you to the exact frequency youve saved. (The A/C power cord is for the US - 120V.)Rare feature: You can adjust the sensitivity for AM/FM seek tuning and FM muting - see photo of rear of unit. The FM muting feature automatically switches the sound output from stereo to mono, but with better reception, if the station signal is weak. Or, set it to always-mono if you prefer.Theres a ferrite stick antenna on the rear of the unit for AM listening, but you will need to connect an external antenna (not included) for FM listening. Even a simple piece of any wire works well.
