Description
The Zeus is a replacement for the Linn Valhalla, Hercules and other electronic motor speed controllers for Linn LP12 and other turntables. The Zeus turntable controller incorporates a speed sensor that accurately detects the rotation speed of the platter, ensuring remarkable precision down to 0.001Hz. This advanced feature guarantees speed stability up to three decimal places, compensating for variations caused by factors like belt, bearing, motor, vinyl condition, and stylus drag every two seconds. As a result, the Zeus controller significantly enhances pitch, rhythm, and overall timbre, providing an astonishing listening experience.Installing the Zeus controller is a breeze as it seamlessly fits onto a standard Linn cross brace, requiring only the mains and motor connections to be made. The speed sensor is discreetly positioned beneath the platter, making it easy to install. Additionally, an OLED display is included, presenting essential information such as rotation speed and WOW percentage. Users have the option to set the display to turn off after a few minutes to avoid distractions in dark rooms, or it can be omitted entirely. The controller connects to the standard Linn Valhalla switch, or a Zeus unit can be ordered with its own square switch featuring LED indication, which fits into the standard power switch cut-out.The wear and tear of components like the belt, bearing, and stylus drag have a significant impact on speed stability. Many Valhalla boards and Premotec/Linn motor combinations tend to run slightly off speed right from the start, and without resorting to mechanical adjustments, correcting this issue becomes challenging, especially when tolerances of mechanical and electrical components drift over time. While the Zeus controller comes with recommended default settings, users have the flexibility to independently adjust each phase of the motor for drive voltage and phase angle, ensuring minimal motor vibration and noise. The controller features an automatic super quiet drive mode that reduces motor drive once the platter reaches full speed, further enhancing smooth operation and reducing noise.Specifications:- CE and UKCA approved- Manufactured in the UK- Electronic switching between 33.3 rpm and 45 rpm- Wow and flutter less than 0.02%- Automatic speed sensor calibration- Generates highly accurate and pure sine wave frequency synthesis for 50Hz or 67.5Hz, controlled to 0.001Hz- Internal optical platter feedback sensor locks platter rotation at rock-solid speed, compensating for worn belts, pulleys, bearings, motors, and stylus drag- Serial interface enables control over motor parameters such as frequencies, phase angle, and voltage amplitude for optimal motor operation with minimal noise and vibration. Values can be written to EEPROM once the ideal setup is achieved. The boards ship with suggested default values for Linn turntables but are fully configurable to suit individual setups.- Super quiet mode: configurable option to reduce motor drive voltage once the platter reaches full speed, further reducing vibration and noise- Configurable auto-rotation upon application of main power- Configurable low-power auto sleep timer when the turntable is idle- OLED display indicates precise platter rotation speed and WOW- Speed change is controlled by holding the power switch for four seconds, accompanied by a visual speed change flash. A new square on-33-45-off switch is provided with red and green LEDs, fitting seamlessly into the LP12 turntable.- Automatic OLED display blanking can be set between 1 to 60 minutes.- External connecting cables are included, and the baseboard PCB fits on the original Linn Valhalla cross brace.- Run-time counters track bearing and stylus wear.- Compatible with Linn Karousel bearing.- Class A motor drive circuitry.- Generates less heat compared to the original Valhalla due to a redesigned PSU section, preventing burned-out resistors.- Supports power supply of 110v-230v, 50/60Hz.This will be factory packaged and shipped from the Stack Audio warehouse.
