This Yamaha R9 unit was shipped to a customer who said it was not working. I authorized a return. When I got it back, I hooked it up with an antenna and was able to pull in radio stations. The stereo comes in the original box, has an owners manual, and a remote control.The hinges on the flip cover are broken and the remote control face was loose.I dont know what to believe about the customers complaint, but I dont want another return. Therefore, I am selling it for parts or restoration.

This vintage Yamaha R-900 Natural Sound AM/FM Stereo Receiver dates to the early 1980s, was replaced, and went into storage in a smoke and pet free home about 25 years ago. It has been tested by the owner (not “bench tested”) and performed quite well. I played a phonograph record through this receiver, and it sounded very good. AM/FM reception was tested, and it sounded very good, as well. However, I did not test inputs/outputs for Tape or Aux. Overall, this item has a very good appearance for its age, and there are very few scratches, smudges, or other signs of usage, but one vertical selector knob is missing (see photo) and the large volume knob is slightly loose. The original Owner’s Manual, Limited Warranty paperwork, product brochure, and loop antenna are all included in the sale. The unit was manufactured in Japan. (Please see all photos.) The receiver measures about 19.0 inches wide, about 13.0 inches deep, about 5.0 inches high, and weighs almost 21 pounds. Yamaha Natural Sound Stereo Receiver Model R-9. I powered up the unit and tested all function buttons. They all lit up. I used the tuner to bring in a station. One side of the hinge cover is broken. The tuner display has slipped a bit from the original location. This unit works, but will need a little TLC to make it totally acceptable.
