Sono perfettamente funzionanti ed in ottime condizioni estetiche, essendo stati amati e curati per anni da un unico e appassionato proprietario. La costruzione è davvero solida (alta densità), basta guardare il peso per capirlo. Il cabinet è ad impostazione ermetica con materiale di riempimento per eliminare risonanze interne. Per la gamma bassa troviamo un woofer il cui cono è costituito con una miscela di una speciale fibra sintetica e cellulosa per sopprime le vibrazioni alla fine della gamma di frequenze riprodotte. La struttura è stata progettata per sopprime le possibili distorsioni in gamma media. Anche i cestelli in alluminio pressofuso, sono studiati per prevenire forme di degrado sonoro derivanti da risonanze indesiderate. Leggenda vuole infine, che il crossover sia stato definito dopo ripetuti test di ascolto. Perfino il crossover infine, leggenda vuole che sia stato affinato attraverso ripetuti test di ascolto per garantire un suono di alto livello. Ok sulla struttura senza compromessi è tutto chiaro ma... come suonano questi diffusori? Per la mia sessione di ascolto, ho utilizzato giradischi Thorens/Shure, lettore CD Marantz, amplificazione NAD/AM Audio e, come comparazione, altre casse acustiche vintage dellepoca tra cui Kef, Scott e AR oltre a delle recenti B&W 705. Risultato? E davvero facile capire perchè questi diffusori sono stati e sono ancora così ricercati e apprezzati. Sono dei monitor che suonano benissimo. Il palcoscenico va decisamente oltre le loro dimensioni fisiche e tutto il tessuto sonoro viene restituito con precisione e dettaglio. Le basse arrivano sin dove la risposta è consentita, restando però sempre sotto controllo. Grazie ad un ottimo incrocio, anche le medie restano sempre molto lineari e ben bilanciate. In virtu di queste caratteristiche, sono casse che si sposano magistralmente con elettroniche (di qualità) dal suono caldo, avvolgente, analogico. È tra i migliori diffusori vintage che io abbia mai ascoltato in questa fascia di prezzo? Assolutamente sì.
