For Sale is a Yamaha DSP-E1000 Digital Sound Field Processing Amplifier. I am the original and only owner of this amp/processor. This unit has been in storage for a number of years. I am selling to clear out old gear to make room for new. I tested this just prior to listing it and it is working great. I tested all connections with the exception of the Tape and the external amplifier hook-ups which I never used since the internal amps on this unit are fantastic. All speaker outputs sound great including the low pass subwoofer output. Both the S and composite video connects also work (see actual pictures - in one you can see the on-screen display is also working). The connectors are solid. The remote is in pristine shape and working perfectly as well. There are normal cosmetic blemishes and the labeling on the front panel is worn (again - see pictures). The main function of this amp is to transform a 2 channel stereo system into a Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound System and music sound processing system. The amp powers a center channel speaker with 80 watts and and also four effect speakers (two surround backs and two fronts with 25 watts (25W x 4 effects, 80 watt center). Therefore, effectively you can have a 5.1/7.1 system if you add to a 2 channel system. As indicated above, the unit will accept external amplification as well, but I did not test that. The unit is also great for surround sound processing with music - Yamaha is a leader is this category and you can apply many different theateres/concert halls/clubs/stadium processing to music and movies. See the picture of the specifications taken from the users manual. The unit will be packed and shipped in the original box and packing materials (again, see pictures). Also included will be the original 44 page Operations Manual which is also in great condition. The manual is extremely valuable for setup and surround field processing information as it describes the 12 program parameters in detail. Economy shippping to the continental United States only. Vintage Yamaha DSP-1 Digital Surround Sound Field Processor - WITH Remote Tested and working. The remote even has batteries included! The Yamaha DSP-1 is a processor of early home theater surround sound equipment, produced in 1985. The DSP-1 (referred to by Yamaha as a Digital Soundfield Processor) allowed owners to synthesize up to 6-channels of surround sound from 2 channel stereo sound via a complex digital signal processor (DSP). Much like todays home theater receivers the DSP-1 offered sixteen sound fields created through the DSP including a jazz club, a cathedral, a concert hall, and a stadium. However, unlike todays integrated amps and receivers, these soundfield modes were highly editable, allowing the owner to customize the effect to his or her own personal taste. The DSP-1 also included an analog Dolby Surround decoder as well as other effects such as real-time echo and pitch change. Most of the DSP-1s controls are on the units remote control. The reason, as mentioned in the manual, being that it was felt that adjustments should be done at the listening position. This can make it difficult for collectors to find a complete functioning unit, although there is at least one provider of aftermarket remote controls with duplicate programming for the DSP-1 if needed. In Dolby Surround mode, only 4 channels are active, with just the front main channels and rear surround channels operating, the forward surround channels being muted.
