The Amp has been tested and seems to function as it should .Makes a slight crackle when selecting different inputs and is temperamental on the selection dial around the CD area. It is one of Yamaha’s class of ‘Natural Sound’ amplifiers which speaks for itself !The eagle-eyed among you may have already noticed that two of this items four feet are missing, hence the much reduced price compared to the AX 596 which I also have on sale.It can function as a pre-main amplifier (pre-amplifier or power amplifier) or it can connect an equaliser between the pre-amplifier and power amplifier stages.It has a CD Direct function to bypass the pre-amplifier for better clarity when playing CDs.It also has a Pure Direct function to bypass the pre-amplifier for better clarity when listening to any source.The input from one source can be recorded while listening to the input from another source except when CD Direct or Pure Direct is in use.It can function as a pre-main amplifier (pre-amplifier or power amplifier) or it can connect an equaliser between the pre-amplifier and power amplifier stages.It facilitates both main and remote speakers or alternatively bi-wiring for speakers that support it.Its speaker binding posts all accept unterminated cables but the ‘B’ speaker terminals also accept banana plugs.
